I suggest that many Bahamians, esspecially those outside of Freeprot tend to see the Port Authority as something that even the Hawksbill Creek agreement does not, and try to hold them to that view. I suggest that maybe that view should finally be legally upheld.

I was also attepting to read the natures of the executives that run my home. Perhaps to understand why they act the way they are currently acting. Have you tried empathizing redhead? Does this mean that I back the fight that is ongoing on Pioneer's Way? No....I growing weary of it. As if the Hurricane wasn't enough.......people are rising up out of nowhere, making noise, with no near end in sight.

Tell me, why do you think the government is not interferring? Why is interfering now a problem for this or any government. I think part of it has to do with the fear of the government wrecking some of what was going on in freeport...some in regards to infrustructural management..that Freeport would be destoyed....I also think it had to do with three words that turned this island off from the present ruling party....."Bend or Break". Those words alone took Freeport into its first econmomic slump. Governments have no problem with dealing with hotels which are private entities......its all the result of the wonderful world of GB politics. (BTW there is still the issue of the accountability of the St.George and Hayward donation which I am sure has not not Sir Hayward in a very pleasurable mood with the present gov. I don't think the the government wants to go lecturing on about accountability on that 75% claim when that $1,000,000 is still out there somewhere.)

I think that I mentioned before that this speech has been misrepresented for years. I have mentioned this before and am sure that I have pointed it out to you. It is irresponsible of you to continue perpetrating the fraud that surrounds this speech. I will quote it here.

“In a city, where regrettably, almost anything goes, where, promisingly, some economic opportunities have come to Bahamians, Bahamians are nevertheless still the victims of an unbending social order, which, if it now refused to bend, must be broken.”

He was referring to the situation in Freeport where Bahamians were being disenfranchised in their own home. This same Port Authority that you are defending was brought in by the previous Government and their purpose was to enrich themselves without a second thought to the rights of Bahamians. This is very reminiscent of what is happening now ironically. The Government that gave The Port Authority its first license to print money in The Bahamas did not care a whit about Bahamians and what we have now is the legacy of their selfish legislation.

Clearly we would not see the same view of the port authority. I see my money (airport fees etc. in addition to shareholders money) being put into the upkeep of my Freeport. You see it as robbing the people blind. I see some things as good administration, you see it as me somehow being blinded by old vestiges. Maybe many of us do not understand the nature of what a company town is. Well.....take a look. If it gives you issues that is fine. Like I said some things have to change if us Freeporters want a more ethical and accountable Port Authority, that is if we still want a Port Authority after this.

Was the speech misrepresented....probably. Have people refused to understand the speech...some surely have. But the fact remains that it has continued to rub people the wrong way for whatever reasons. It is the reason why the government would not interfere and why some people will not allow a PLP governmnet to touch them. How is stating that observation irresponsible?

The prevailing impression in Freeport has been for a while that Sir Lynden meant that Grand Bahamians if they refused to bend would be broken. That is the story that is told in Grand Bahama and is as far from the truth as East is from West. How is it that a man came to Grand Bahama and spoke out for the rights and dignity of Bahamians and yet it was spun over the years into a threat against those same people. The reason that I said your statement is irresponsible is because as one who knows the truth behind this speech you should not be implying that its meaning is the same old propaganda that was spread before.

I was told by another poster that The PLP wishes to keep The Bahamian people ignorant and uneducated. Well you have an opportunity to inform those that have the wrong idea about this speech. Tell them the truth and not have them remain ignorant and in the dark. I wonder if The FNM would advocate educating the Grand Bahama populace of this fact. Or would they like to keep them ignorant and uneducated?

Scanning the history book right nah...
the correct quote is:
"In this City where, regrettably, almost anything goes, where, promisingly, some economic opportunities have come to Bahamians, Bahamians are neverthelless still the victims of an unbending soical order which, if it now refuses to bend, must be broken."
