Try doing an nslookup on boycottbahamas.com or use a program that will do this for you. You can find out all kinds of info about the site which I think has been taken down FINALLY.
fishkisser 01-04-04, - 11:37 PM Ostrom...
I LOVE the bahamas and will visit MORE if there are fewer ignorant, STUPID americans raping your reefs and waters. An american ALWAYS put a damper on my past trips to Marsh Harbour. I agree with Rory. Lose the ignorant americans.

Angry sailor ay
Good riddance.
Delroy 01-04-04, - 11:48 PM Anyway, there are so many other industries that the bahamas can get involved in, and begin exporting, but that hasnt started yet. Personally im cliking into the security industry, as there is an open market in specific areas of that.
I agree Rory
I will give you one industry in particular; "Young People".
If the government would invest more resources in the youth of the nation we won't have to worry about all of this boycott foolishness.
Nicholas Jacques 01-06-04, - 11:37 AM Dear colleagues and members of Bahamas Issues:
Let me give my Two cent contribution to this " boaters boycotting the Bahamas" ISSUE and perhaps be able to shade some light objectly on this matter.I will attempt to deal with: the gremantiger, Miss Lisa Wells and Mr. Fuhrmann's remarks because they all spoke somewhat negatively about the Bahamas while they have issues with one or two individual Bahamians, which in my poinion doesn't make any sense to me.
Nevertheless, as a "Taxi-driver" for Twenty years , I have experience and heard some of the most interesting conversation from boaters who fly down from Islands like Bimini, Exuma and Andros purporting to be tourist as they ride in the back seat of my taxi.
One particular gentleman, having give him one of my business card, usually call me to pick him up from airport whenever he comes down to buy parts for the yacht he was in charge of down in Exuma. On one particular occasion he came to Nassau with a friend and I heard him telling his friend how much he loves the Bahamas because the Bahamas made him a millionaire and as long as you are white you can get away with anything because Bahamians love white people. He went on to say how he used his boss yacht to supply a popular restaurent in New York with Lobsters and "scale-fish" and by the time his boss found out about what he was doing and fired him, he was able to buy his own yacht. yet these are the same people who don't want to pay the government of the Baamas any tax.
I can go and on with many other scenarios, but as you know and I know long stories doesn't make good sense for web sites. Therefore my colleagues, be a good patriotic, and never join in with a foreniger to speak negative about your belove country;and above all else have faith in the Almighty God, because he has always sustain us and no boycott in the world can impact us negatively as long as God is on our side.
Have a happy new year and may God continue to bless you and your family and the entire Bahamas.
Vicky 01-10-04, - 09:36 AM Rory do you pay more when you can get it for less.
Wow how dumb can you get. Every tourist $ spent any where else other than the Bahamas is $ we don't earn to spend our selves. When the boaters don't go to the out islands and spend money duh they can't earn the money. When the out islanders don't have it to spend they are going to call on the government to provide for them. Where do you think the government is going to get the money to support the out islanders? Uh lets guess Tax now can the government get tax $ from the out islanders if they are so poor they are asking the government for money. No they are going to tax those that have the money that means you Rory.
Tourism is like any other business. You sell something for a profit.
Hmmm now what can we sell. What do we have to sell????? Still thinking uh nothing that would amount to brining in enough money for the Bahamas to thrive.
There are 2 things we can sell but people can own it and carry it back home with them. 1 is sea sand and sunshine and all the things that go with them. The other is hospitality. Now if you have the most beautiful place to go but you make it so that people don't want to come what happens? Duh they don't come. First pricing if you over price it people go some place else. If your attitude stinks people will go some place else. Now we have the place where people want to come, the price is higher than most and the attitude is a put on by most people just for the money. Another words I am happy and friendly as long as you are putting money in my hands.
I served you I brought you your food so I should get 15% of the bill. But I got busy with some gossip and did not bring you the water you had to ask me for. But I still want my 15%. It was only a glass of water it's not like a drink you were paying for. (That I would have gotten 15% of).
We must learn to kiss the tourists bum if we want their money. I am not saying we must let the abuse us either.
Long lines for a police record or passport office hey dummy that's our country. Long lines at the visa office goes to show how many of us want to go to the US.

Why all the personal attacks Vicky?
Delroy 01-11-04, - 12:21 AM i cant understand one word of this mumbo jumbo, you need to slow down and speak proper english for others to understand. And if you knew me you'd know im far from dumb!!
Nobody is dumb here.
This forum is filled with intelagent indavidals. :D
Yeah we may raw and even feel like fighting sometimes :matrix_re but das life.
On with the discussion.
captaindewey 07-13-04, - 06:39 PM We use to visit the Bahamas several times a year but since the increase in clearing customs and the arrogant attitude of the officials we have not been back since the increase. It's sad to think that the almighty dollar is keeping many of us away. The good news is there are many other beautiful places with good hearted people to visit. Just return from going to Montreal by way of The Hudson River, Lake Champlain and The Chambly Canal.
What an experence! Photos can be viewed at http://www.deweyswain.com/MontrealTrip
Teniel 11-24-04, - 01:04 AM WOW!! I agree with you on some points. We (Bahamians) need to improve our attitudes badly. We barely can treat each other right sometimes and it is reflected in our attitudes towards the tourists. In order for us to treat tourist the way they should be, we need training starting from in the homes.
And yes you are right we dont have a unique product, sun, sand, sea, hey thats every other caribbean and pacific island country as well, but our service and attitude can be unique among the rest. Hopefully it wont take a major economic disaster before we gear into action, and make this country a token in the region.
lawabidingbahamian 11-24-04, - 01:52 PM alot sounds about right, but the $20K a year thing, maybe after tax. If they make $20K a year before tax, i doubt they can afford a boat that can make it to the Bahamas from Florida, yet alone the trip and expenses involved.
other wise, yes, we should start kising but, americans do it to their own, to make money, so why are we as bahamians any better?? Alot of Bahamians do it also, in the hotel industry, etc, but they definately do not do it to their own, us bahamians. Is it because they think we are poor, all of us?? That would be another thread though ... :shaky:
I dont want anyone to kiss my butt anyway, but It would be nice to have some good to average service.
HOME TOWN, SOMETIMES YOU REALLY GET ON MY NERVES :sparky: AT SOME OF THE THINGS YOU SAY. PERSONS DON'T HAVE TO OWN A BOAT TO COME HERE, MOST PERSONS RENT BOATS.......
I THINK THIS GOVERNMENT SHOULD IMPROVE SERVICE BEFORE GOING UP ON FEES. ALL THE TIME YOU HEAR IS FEES GOING UP AND NOTHING IS DONE ABOUT SERVICE. :realmad:
I THINK THE EXTRA IS GREEDY AND INCONSIDERATE......I AM A BAHAMIAN WHO OWNS A BOAT AND KNOWS ABOUT POOR QUALITY SERVICE AT SOME OF OUR MARINAS......WE NEED THAT TOURISM DOLLAR THEY DON'T REALLY NEED US,
SO I SUGGEST YOU BE WISE BEFORE YOU POST, BECAUSE EVERY AND ANY ONE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD CAN READ THEM. YOU CAN REALLY HAVE A DAMAGING EFFECT ON OUR ECONOMY BY BEING ARROGANT AND SELFISH :dunce:
A WORD TO THE WISE IS SUFFICIENT. :taped2:
Majikart 10-25-07, - 06:43 AM Any yatchsman that can afford hundreds of thousands for a yatch can certainly afford two or three hundred dollars to sail the yatch through the Bahamas. Lets have more confidence in our tourism product than that. This Boycott is a Temporary thing. Our product is uniqe and pristine among them all. We will win in the end and they will return to our shores for our product. You can't experience Eleuthera in Florida. Its ours. Stay confident and firm.
What's really strange(Unless I'm missing something) is that when I visit that site all I see are a list of the Bahamian islands and when I click on one of them, I get advertisements for hotel deal there:dgi:
Majikart 10-25-07, - 06:58 AM Yeah, this is a very old thread, from 2004
