View Full Version : I signed the petition!...so should U...say no to the vote-buying NHI!
Tafadhali 11-21-06, - 03:43 PM There is an online petition going around. Here is what they have to say. PLEASE READ AND FORWARD TO ALL CONCERNED BAHAMIAN RESIDENTS
Friends,
The government is rushing through legislation for a National Health Insurance plan without providing the Bahamian public with the information and analysis that would show that their plan will be able to deliver better, more timely healthcare.
Indeed, many are convinced that without proper planning and management, the Bahamian public health care system will get worse, as we all get forced into an inefficient public bureaucracy. In fact, if you are now insured in a company health insurance plan, your PRIVATE coverage will likely be watered down or eliminated if the legislation goes through as planned!
The National Coalition for Health Care Reform have established a petition that asks the government to slow down the process, release all the information and implement a sustainable and effective health care plan.
Take ONE MINUTE and add your name to the online petition. Then, do forward this note and website to ALL those Bahamian residents that you feel may want the option to add their name to the petition. The website address is
http://www.bahamashealthcarereform.org/petition
At the website, you will also find links to information on the Coalition, and on various opinions and viewpoints concerning the National Health Insurance proposal. Bookmark the link and go back and read the information to bring yourself up to speed on all the very important issues surrounding the government's planned national health insurance plan.
Thanks.

…..or a group that calls themselves…. “The National Coalition For Health Care Reform”
that is primarily made up of big money corporate interests…

a national healthcare plan (in this present form) is too expensive and will have the opposite effect on healthcare delivery in the Bahamas believe that.
my thing is why not do it right the first time, and it is a valid question...what is the rush? political expedience? :dgi: people who agree with this plan as is, are only short sighted and thinking of instant gratification and playing on the intelligence of people who want something for free...yinna know there is no free lunch! in the medium term this will exasperate and bog down on healthcare services...in the long term it will be the catalyst for our ultimate economic downfall if we dont make the hard decisions.
From day 1 ive sung the same tune...nevermind who the messenger is.

not yet.
I was aiming my post at the issue. Those organizations will NEVER support a NHI under any form. Dont you get it. They will "play the numbers game" in anyway possible to try to prevent any such health plan from ever being introduced.
On this issue they will try to pedantically kill this initiative at every opportunity (shameless use of word i know)

You know exactly why they want to do this. The FNM "is they win" will come in, wait a year and put the very same plan or similar forward.
There is nothing wrong with this plan aside from election spin from the FNM.
Fact is, the majority of the voters would not know how to assess the information about this plan.
They would not know how to go about looking at it, until they are faced with that option.
Right now, there is no option because the entire plan is not on the table..or at least, I have not gotten full wind of it.

Talk about dumb azz. Have you actually seen the plan yet?
Have both sides in the house contributed fully to it yet?

If the straw people were FNM, they would tell you that you were actually smart. Does not make them right.
You should shut up because this thing has not yet been fully discussed in the house...both sides must contribute.
Second, this plan has been talked about for at least 2 years now. Where have you been?
:dgi:
Would you like for them to sit back and not do anything, even though election is around the corner?
Lastly, de-redhead put up some startling figures about election spending. Guess who spent more in election years?
You still want to talk about election tricks!?!?
Hows about the education election trick youf FNM's TRIED to pull, but back fired...when people found out they had to pay back the "scholarship".
Talk about making maroons out of poor saps like you....at least they did something, that was the thing. But, for God's sake, please do not go into this election time bull-crap, like they all do not would not or will not do it again.
You just sound assinine when you do that.
:taped2:
Well, you sound assinine when you say anything....
