View Full Version : Miss Teen Bahamas Contestants Speak Up
Tafadhali 12-03-06, - 01:06 PM I know that you must know how children can be. They can be cruel and overly dramatic for no good reason. I can only imagine how badly the winner must feel. How would it make you feel if you worked hard to win a competition and after your hard work paid off you were called a cheater. And remember she is a girl too. I read an article in The Guardian and the parents of some of these girls are basically calling this girl a cheater. They should know better. I don't blame these girls they don't know any better and judging by the behaviour of their parents it is no surprise to me that they are sore losers but their parents should know better.
I was being objective.
so you automatically assume that these girls are lying...my thing is you will know them by their deeds...and when more than two are in accord...
the new winner's behavior leaves alot to be desired...maybe she feels sulky because she know her mom paid of the judge andshe didnt win on her own merits?
children are children...but that doesnt mean they are stupid and they dont know how to handle defeat. I commend these girls from speaking out...if you feel that you are wronged wouldnt you do the same. and the parents paid all this money for their children...you want to give your kids the best deal...you dont want to be had...there was this perception that the young girl was considered the winner from go...I would want to get to the bottom of this if I was a parent too...I invested in this and we should demand accountability.
to all the girls...I would strongly advise that they work hard at school and focus ontheir education...they can have their own degree beauty pageant once they walk across that stage in the procession at commencement exercises...they can even wave too...and smile to the crowd.
and for further reference you are talking to the reigning Little Miss Regatta 1980 something...I know of what I speak!
Cindy Thompson 12-03-06, - 01:23 PM you dont know how to spell.
OOOHHH boy sooo sorry I'am not a perfect human being like yourself.
missteensup 12-03-06, - 01:27 PM Now if u read the article it made no reference to Ms. Tynes, because the only thing parents are concerned about it the conduct of the committee members. Remotely Ms. Tynes character came into play during the competition and even more so when she won, that is a whole other issues that only her, committe members now and family has to deal with.
For Ms. Richa to once again dismiss the parents is so typical, yes her sister was the photographer ( truth to told ms ford was the only sincere one of the bunch), issues were with the family ties of the entire 14years, credibility and unprofessionalism.
Have their ever been a pagaent when a family member entered and never won? I wonder:confused: I guess this is where they learn the act of avoiding the issues from ms.sands. To call the claims of the parents "unfounded" was blant disregard, when the foundings were based on what was done, said, given and so called "clarified" by the director and committee members themselves.
Yes an "independent audit" was done that night with a parent who was also an accountant, BUT I ask how could this been done when all the scorecards were not present to make a correct tally of all the points. Nor did Mr. Wilson have the "simple excel spreadsheet" with the cumulative scores of the Prelims.
I can guess who will reply to this one :gi:
Tafadhali 12-03-06, - 01:42 PM OOOHHH boy sooo sorry I'am not a perfect human being like yourself.
the mere fact that you replied lets me know this bothers you. far from perfect...sometimes I have a blond moment and forget how to spell "sky" but for someone so passionate about pageants im thinking you should at least know how to spell competition! this speaks volumes. touche.

First I never said they were lying. Adolescence is a time when our imaginations are overly active. Add to that a competitive environment where a group of young girls may take offence to the demeanor of a certain girl and or the fact that she is more well liked by organizers than they are (which is usually because they are rude and uncouth). Girls talk (boys too but not quite as often) and they will concoct stories and spread rumours about innocent people.
Also reigning little Miss regatta (you aint reigning no more by the way, let it go) how would you have felt if all the other girls said you cheated. The island smaller than Nassau, talks does spread faster and is more vicious, that would have been a terrible thing to have to live with. Especially as a little girl. Think about this little girl who just happened to beat the other little girls. That was the only thing that I can see that she did wrong, she beat the rest of them. If they want to convince me they have to come better than they have been.
missteensup 12-03-06, - 01:55 PM OKAY NOW
Committe members will be promt That is a start some sort of professionalism is needed.to all functions
information givin to contestants will be accurate Should be in black and white, (which seem to be stretch thus far)copies should also be maintained by committee members for future reference
mr wilson will continue to be tally master using the excell spreadsheet No Way! u need to find a reputable accounting firm (we don't want to hear that cost money SUCH IS LIFE) & a SIMPLE excel spreadsheet is not adequate for computations, they are well known for incorrect consistences with a push of a button..............By using a firm u will get the additional person (because in real business they value their CREDIBILTY
while there is a second tallyer using a calculater to assure the scores are tallied correctly
judging sheets will be givin to contestants right after the compition...this should great too but what competition are u talking about, prelims or final competition. Betta yet how about printing it in the local papers the result, (just to give you some more public relations, WHICH U NEED TO WORK BETTER ON ALSO:gi: )
Yodephy students will continue to be allowed to enter ...:sparky: TERRIBLE:sparky: By involving the agency in your program u exclude this individuals to participate due to bias. Seeing that the Program uses this agency as a development process.:hammer:
Judges have always bin informed on what it is they should be looking for in contestants PUT this is writing for the judges and contestants alike, committe members informed parents and contestants alike they don't give the judges guidelines to stiffle their judgement:confused:
judges are found to be affiliated with any contestant in any way will not be allowed to judge. Well this should be implemented before u make a final say of who will judge, INTERNATIONAL JUDGES
family members of founder and or committi will no longer be allowed to enter HOOOOORRRRRAAAAY u finally getting the picture
All prizes for the queen .... should be also in black and white, and include all the conestants in this statement. AND announced at the final competition of what the prizes are for the queen, contestants or the queen's court.
BY THE WAY WHAT ARE THE PRIZERS AGAIN, CAN U INCLUDE THE SPECIAL PRIZES TOO THANKS:angel:

Well i see you point but listen, the rude and uncoth is Ms. Tynes, i observe; i am not talking from a contestant view up an in this . When the camera was flashing she smiled that galmour smile. As soon as the flash diminsh the cuss words, the rudeness to contestants, the attitude of i know it all, cause i was told i got in the bag was OVERSTATED, in her every actions. She even came out and told the girls this tidbit of info.
She bullied contestants, such as during the prelims when contestants practice their platforms, she interuppted them, screamed at them " You don't know what u talking about, what type of platform is that, That is not a minute or under, you guys to stupid". She made it a point to get in contestants faces and it was quite distrubing.
Committe members saw it but said nothing, and i commend the girls for holding out regardless inside of letting it cause them to fold. These girls have more character then most adults. So when it comes to Ms. Tynes feelings " What goes around comes Around" KARMA BABY

Seriously though, if you didnt like it or it upset you, quit and move on. Its not the end of the world and a competition is not required to be good at something. I see plenty of things everyday in Nassau to complain about, serious things, but I dont bother anymore cause noone else cares.

I don't want to think that no one cares, because we have an entire group of young ladies who really do care. That last post was only to give de redhead a betta reference to what is being said when refered to Ms.Tynes especially when she commented the maybe the other contestants were rude and uncoth.
Truly, we don't care that she holds the crown as said before, we want the system to be better and contestants to not enter unknowingly.
:bouncy: Rory don't give up speak your mind, regardless if noone else seems to care. It is never the end of the world :bye:

Madashell 04-16-07, - 10:47 PM It is really strange how this could happen two years in a row from the Miss Teen Bahamas Program. This year April 2nd one of the contestants from the 2006 Miss Teen Bahamas Pageant Ms. Trinere Lynes, Miss Tropique was crowned as Miss Bahamas Universe a pageant of which your achievements must be higher to obtain such a title than that of The Miss Teen Bahamas Pageant. She being my good friend I see it fitting to pin point once again that The Miss Teen Bahamas Pageant is a faulty program. I am sorry for those young girls entering the pageant if you don't have any money then it is just a waste of time, effort, hardwork and loyalty. This coming also from a past contestant of the 2006 competition.
