It has been very amusing and educational experience for me over the last few days.
Having called off the public bus strike on Monday, many individuals who I
have met at the “Brake fast Club” at Mcdonald's, the Hilton Taxi Stand, at Festival Place on Prince George and my office have formed a multitude of opinions as to why I have made such a decision. Interestingly, none of those persons opinions were correct or positive.
Some persons said that I was getting soft in my old days, some said that I have sold out, some said I was afraid of losing my job with the Ministry of Tourism at Festival Place. Nevertheless; nobody said "you only did what your members ask you to do".
What do you think?

I think that you are doing an excellent job Mr. Jacques.
I feel that the recent surge of increases in taxes made by the Government has been too spontaneous and at a time when the average Bahamian cannot handle it.
Thank you.

If your members voted to call off the strike you did the right thing.
Or, if you called off the strike because it would not be in the best interest of your union or the nation, then you also did the right thing.
If you caved into pressure then you did the wrong thing. Only you know why you did what you did. I have a feeling it was on of the first two things I mentioned.

Mr. Jacques,
If you know that you did the right thing, why do you need another opinion?

Dear Mr. Lowe:
I really did not need another opinion, I simply wanted more opinions so that I can make a better assessment of the wider publics' opinion regarding our activities, my leadership and the Omnibus Union. The opinions I got initially were from people I know very well; who have a serious psychological inferiority complex, and as a result of their disposition they always criticized and talk down to people in order to elevate themselves . Therefore, I do not regard their opinions as genuine.
