Alien 12-28-06, - 01:19 PM And I am asking all of you ladies, does that sound right? I am with licks2 110% with her view point! Nice to see that some of the ladies still have a :heartbeat !

:taped2:
Abiskan Moon-Angel 12-28-06, - 03:28 PM As ashamed as I am to say it,this would not be such a serious problem among Bahamians if Bahamian men had a stronger paternal instinct. Why is it that we black men,in general, do not seem to have the same urgent need to be with our woman and children,as other races do?It is a global problem among black folks, especially in da States. How can we be so superior in sports, music or dancing and be such pathetic fathers? All I can say is thank God that NO WOMAN,loves her children more than a BLACK WOMAN does!
HMPFFF! I AGREE...black folks dont have a clue!:gi:
Ah....Don't be a wet nuss. They always had heart, its just us they don't like you.
:taped2:
I have all the love I need, but there is always room for more. With that being said, SEASON GREETINGS to you Y2K! May you have a rich and joyous holiday season, try finding :heartbeat in 2007.
chancellor 12-28-06, - 06:23 PM Question. Knowing that there are doctors that would still do the proceedure dispite the law and stuff and since Bahmians go away to undergo certain medical surgeries and etc., how many Bahamians would leave the country to abort?

those that know, know how and where to find these doctors...those that don't, go abroad...
how many women can afford to go abroad for an abortion?
......... All I can say is thank God that NO WOMAN,loves her children more than a BLACK WOMAN does!
Really? You call it love when a women (regardless of the color) has 2, 3, 4 and more illegitimate children when she can even afford to bring up one? She has to "farm" the extra kids out to Grandma! I don't call it love, I call it self-serving at best and stupid at worse.:sparky: The kids suffer in the end!

self-serving....
you think women and young girls have children for the weekly 40-250 dollar addition to their budgets?
the bible and many other cultures and religions implore their members to
'BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY'...
judaism promotes that the blessing is in the continuation of your lineage
you raised so many issues here..
but many of these women and girls have been socialized into behaviour they don't understand....
many women don't know how to negotiate sex and condom use...not even with their husbands and long term partners...
many of these women also don't believe in abortion...
ITS NOT FAIR TO CALL THEM SELF-SERVING OR STUPID....
also the shift from the extended family unit to the nuclear family unit may cause this perception of abandonment....but only several decades ago the bahamian family unit was larger and thus there were many options for childcare within the home...or homestead.....

Are you into your cups my friend? If their mother did not love them who would? Would they be better off terminated in an abortion or put in some orphanage or foster home?
I am not defending poor judgement on anyone's part, but I would never suggest children should suffer for their parent's mistakes and I do believe people need to live with their mistakes!
After reading so many of your intelligent and insightful post,I feel this one is a callous blunder.

In some cases no one!
Would they be better off terminated in an abortion or put in some orphanage or foster home?
In some cases yes.

I never said the children should suffer! I said the do suffer! Look around at all the fatherless kids - wandering, getting into trouble. Of course there are always exceptions but by and large kids from a single parent family have more problems.
self-serving....
you think women and young girls have children for the weekly 40-250 dollar addition to their budgets?
Some might! We had a maid once that said. "If I have 12 children and when I get old each give me $10.00 a week! I'll be rich!!!" As it happened, she died - in childbirth!
But by and large, young girls have children because they are stupid. One thing about stupid - it does not have to be forever! Young gals can wise up! Many do.
the bible and many other cultures and religions implore their members to
'BE FRUITFUL AND MULTIPLY'...
Yes they do but not like rabbits! There are boundaries i.e. marriage.
but many of these women and girls have been socialized into behaviour they don't understand....
That is the point, there is no socializing - it is just ":taped2: anything that moves!"
many women don't know how to negotiate sex and condom use...not even with their husbands and long term partners...
many of these women also don't believe in abortion...
ITS NOT FAIR TO CALL THEM SELF-SERVING OR STUPID....
True, but as I told a guy who was lamenting to me that he had fathered yet another outside child - "they know what causes that you know!" I also added. "A guy like you who can build an engine from the ground up cant understand how to use a condom?"
To have one kid by mistake is just that a mistake. A second one is carelessness. The third, forth, fifth, and so on is plan stupidness.
licks2 12-29-06, - 01:40 PM we are not, you are right....
but the courts don't force men to assume ownership...
a man can protest a women's claim...the courts then have to find proof..i.e dna....
but if a man acts like he's the father or acts like he thinks he's the father...then the court may compel him to 'continue' his assumed obligations...
but essentially i'm with you...
the new act was to bring the law in order with new policy...gender policy...fathers are caregivers also...fathers are parents also fathers 'own' their children also...
i support duncombe...i support any policy that recognizes that women and men don't live in isolation of one another...
but i don't support blaming women OR BLAMING MEN for the problem...
this is a complex socio-cultural issue...
please continue...i want to talk more but running out of time...
men love their children just as much as women....i don't think men want to abandoon their children or want to seem like they have no love for them...we have to help men and women find ways to support each other and their children through divorce and separation...it takes a village to raise a child to sustain a family to sustain a community/....
I have to also agree with you on assigning blame to any one gender...and it too is a very serious and complex socio-cultural issue! And again I agree that the normal "Christo-Bahamain" and "political pandering" way of addressing the problem has long-ago outlived its usefullnes!!
Therefore, I join you in saying that it too takes a village to raise a child! However, when a significant part of that village is treated un-fairly in access to those children, then only a part of that village is rearing them children! Be it father of mother doing the rearing...we are raising a defective crop...mostly!
Unless and until Behamian women realize that denied access and forced payment tend to induce the natural human instinct to resist and fight back in men...they will continue to be left hanging!! Some times the brother is just fighting what he sees as injustice and in some case detremental to his welbeing!! Not that he don't love his child!
Case in point. One of ma home gals put her baby daddy in court for maintainance the other day! I asked her why she put the man in court, since she don't want him to see or have his child and the child is very well provided for financially? Private schools and the works...paid for by her folks dem! Like the old folk say...een want fer nothing! What was the point! Ma bouy simply said that if he can't play...he een ger pay!!! Which I thought was only damn fair!
Anywho...to make a long story short, the court saw it the man's way and ruled that if the guy must give money to a child who clealy don't need it, the man ger have access to the child too! Nah her family all upset cos the child likes the guy and does spend plenty time with him and around his people!
So nah when she talk about the lil boy staying down there too long sometimes, I simply tell her, he with his father and his family...leave dem to hell alone...don't you get the money all the time? He paying fer that opportunity!!!
In other words, let the man bond with his son in peace...ya kept them apart long enough? Relax ya greedy azz!:cutie:

i'm NOT disagreeing with you
right on...father's deserve to be a part of their child's life....(once there's no abuse)....100% CORRECT

My co-worker knows a young woman similar to your housekeeper only thing, she has 7 children for 7 different men, she does not have a job because she gets money from each of the daddies, she deliberately had those kids for that sole purpose.
