View Full Version : Raise for BEC Workers?
I work professionally with computers and have had clients with expensive line conditioners on their computers and BEC still blew them out. There are no guarantees except: BEC will fry your expensive electronics equipment :what:I am sorry to hear that! I guess the only wise thing to do is to backup your data to some kind of removable media, OFTEN!!
I have never "lost" a computer to BEC. I have mine connected to a UPS, and so far all has been well, but who knows what the future will bring? That is no way for us to live, or work. BEC must get its act together before they start raking in more money - both management and labour.

A UPS is no protection against power hi ts, or low voltage. Its just a back up or some has a very basic surge protection.
Im sorrry to heear about the other guys Line Conditioners not working, that must hae been some very big spikes! I and others i know< for years have neverr lost anything once plugged into a line conditioner

All I can say is if have been OK with my UPS. Even with the extraordinary ups and downs given us by BEC. But I am sure you will agree with me - backup, backup, backup!

yes, Back up is more important than anything, ive been there myself in the past , and seen others who never back up, lose things. I burn my docs at least every 2 weeks, or after I do some major downloading or make some new/updated scripts. Plus most of my most important docs are on my website's server also. Those are my whole life right now!!!
I can replace hard ware but not 1000s of pages with thousands of lines of code!

they need this :-) a new script i am working on, its like using your My Computer from your computer, but in a web page, can install for server or local server, or to be used remotely for your personal server installed on a PC. Will probably be adding more features, back up is not yet on it, but working on that soon. Its classic ASP also, no components or add ons needed, just Internet Explorer. This is the actual size, most folder manager scripts take up a whole page, this is designed so you can simply include/insert this in your existing web page.

Dont know what it means but it looks good.
If you can make a fast, easy backup system you will be rolling in the cold hard cash!
canewry 11-19-03, - 10:45 AM WEll, if I am not mistaken, usually, when you give one government agency a raise, morethanlikely, raises are expected/demanded by every other government agencies. Before giving raises, we must see how much money there is in the kitty. For if you raise BEC, it will cause a domino effect in the pay scheme for every public servant worker in the Bahamas. Can we afford to do a pay increase accross the board?

updated with save and back up features, along with typical open file, etc.
not complete yet for general public. Deisnged primarily for browsing, edit, back up of your server's computer, so obviously most servers / hosts will not allow this script, but hey, it works :-) I will convet to folder based server script afterwards, so it only starts at the hosts root folder, as a 2nd script.
This is designed for included within an ASP web page, but will also convert it to PHP. When using in a web page and edit page mode you will be able to resize it so you see page larger or full screen. Most like this take up full page, this is designed for use in an existing web page, so it takes up little room, hence the smaller size.
It can optionally be used as a pop up modal window, like seen in browser based chat rooms etc .. or for a server side SAVE AS window.
