View Full Version : What did we make last year?
Alien 01-20-07, - 12:04 PM We have certainly tightened revenue
administration, and we have increased some fees
by modest amounts for Government services but
these are not instances of taxation. On the
contrary, these are fees for services and the
14
increases were intended to go towards meeting,
at least in part, the costs of providing the
services.
Budget communication 2006 pg 13-14
LOL....
Did he just say that he did not increase taxes, but did exactly just that?
Raising the price of a public good or service is a tax. No matter how you call it.
Then he had the nerve to say that he did the opposite!?!?
You gatta like his ballz!
Ever since I heard his 0% unemployment statement, I have been looking at it closely!
hehehehe.....
its not really a tax, as he said, since we can pay or not pay (have the service or not), but in reality, there is no other choice, so we gettin raped!

He said increase twice and fees and cost once!
Sounds like tax to me. Then again, what do I know!

Well it all depends I guess on which services incurred the increases in fees.
Maybe they increased fees for getting a driver's licences or maybe fees for going to a clinic or those type of stuff and dont count them as taxes.
Then again, if departure tax is called a tax, can you call the fee for getting a driver's licence a tax?
Maybe one of the economists on the board can answer.

The last time you had your driver's license, passport, gun license or business license renewed I am sure that you did not consider this to be a tax. These are examples of services and as such are not considered taxes.
Alien 01-20-07, - 02:54 PM Anything Government charges you for a public good or utility is a tax. No matter how you cut it.
Any revenue pulled into the Government, from the citizens is a tax. You want to drive, you pay for your permit and so forth. You want to insure your car, you pay the fees for costs. They are taxes, set by the Government to make sure it gets done. Whether it is done properly is relative.
:)
And he just increased your taxes. All he did was said it in a pretty sexxxy sounding way. Service charge!
Want to hear other cute little names for taxes??
Administrative fees.
National Contributions.
Universal coverage scheme's
Duties. Import and Export.
Tariffs.
Subsidy.
Clearance fees.
Registration fees and allowances.
Certification fees.
ALL ARE TAXES!
If incurred by the state.
No fudging around with it. They charge you for the service. You just like the way they made it sound, but in reality he just raised taxes!
:hammer:
So now you know that in the Bahamas, you pay taxes. And the people who drive around with no permit, and who have their cars not inspected, or are unemployed but go to the free clinic anyways, are virtually stealing from you. And Government helps them steal from you, by upping the cost to serve the loss of income. Everytime people do not renew their permits, or goes to the clinic...who do you think pays for that?
The people who pay the tax...errr:gi: ....permit and administrative cost.
They do not contribute. They are free riders to the system. You work, while they take advantage for free. In the meantime, Government increases your driving tax....eerrr:gi: ....permit and administrative cost.
No doubt, the state needs money to operate. But, dont tell me it isnt a tax when it is.

I saw a post earlier where you and Wasayu were agreeing on some issue or other and everyone was commenting about it. Agreeing on an issue is one thing, we all have issues where we agree with each other, but this post is almost as stupid and non-sensical as some of his. You better watch it.

And I am glad I don't agree with your kool-aid drinking PLP goon. Feed that line of BS to some dope down on Farrington Road. And I am happy to see that you affirmed what I have been saying all along about you hacks as well as proving, I am on neither side of this political thing.....
:taped2:
How else does Government, pay for roads, works, schools and the other services it provided you azz!?!
:dgi:
Unless you have a money well- that is not from our pockets- you my freind are the ignorant dope. I don't think you are, but you are a PLP stooge. A poor one at that.
Keep the dream alive baby....but, don't tell the Bahamian people shat isn't shat when it is!
:hammer:
A raise in any governmental administrative fee is a raise in your taxes. Tax-rate service charges sounds more like it.

I don't have time for all the foolishness except to say that...
Driver's license renewal fees, passport renewal fees, business license renewal fees, gun license renewal fees and other similar fees are not taxes. If you are too stupid to understand that it has less to do with your political affiliation than either your lack of intelligence or your lack of common sense.
I suggets you take your loss and sit down.
Stupid.

You dont have time, because you are an azz and believe anything those guys tell you. There is nothing you can say, to prove that they are not taxes.
Take that shat somewhere else bruva....
Moron.
I can't believe you are that dumb. It probably is true what they say about PLP voters. Dumb and ignant.

If the PLP served siht on two buns with cheese, letters and tomatoes and sprinkled it with 2 day-old urine, de redhead would call it a delicious burger and of course he would have the kool-aid to go too.

Lightly toasted buns that were left on the sidewalk at the high peak of mid-day sun in July!

Debates usually involve objective facts. A persons political bootlicking should be set aside for the moment.. Although I don't always agree with what Y2K writes, he made a valid point. Whatever u call them, service fees, administrative fees, contributions e.g., the fact is they are still taxes and the PM is just plainly lying to the sheeple who support his bs. Now see, I did not attack anyone personally:)

Ask de-redhead. He started the attack.
I just finished the sucker off!
You are right. Lets ignore him and talk about the rise in our taxes, and what it is doing to our country and economy!
Schools are not being built any quicker. And as quick as he raised them, or in relation to raising them, the unions have been taking it back. Teachers and Public Service.
We just ran around in a cricle. With the kids till getting EFF and the Public Service still lousy.
My thing is, we pay these people. We deserve more accountability out of them. They take our collected money, for themselves. They have a considerable advantage, if not a monopoly. Not everyone can send their kids to private schools, thanks to low wages and high taxes. And somethings, we need the public service for...Utility corps and the rest of the full public service branches.
