View Full Version : What Christ said about homosexuality
Priscilla H Carey 11-29-03, - 12:07 PM "I am still a work in progress until the day I see Him face to face, without any doubt I know in Whom I believe"
Good morning Vicky,
Please define what is the Holiness Code? and I try to answer your question.
Although I don't fully comprehend all things; I do know who Christ is for my life.
With that said do think we have the right to discrimanate against a person because they are different????? Do you think is right to up keep laws that discrimanate against people who are different. Remember beliving in Christ is Faith. Faith is something we belive to be fact with out proof. You have yours I have mine and others have theirs. Who are you or I or any group no matter how big to impose the rules of our faith on some one who does not share our faith. This is wrong. How would you feel if you lived under the Taliban???
No one has the right to discriminate against anyone. I would agree with you on that. I am grateful I was born on this side of the world because I would have been miserable under the likes of the Taliban. (I was complemented in Moscow as someone who looks like from Armenia) http://www.bahamasissues.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
and yes, we believe in Christ in faith, and our faith in Him grows the more we know Him. For Christians believing in him is desiring to follow Him and become more like Him, through faith and with the help of The Holy Spirit.
Your question has been "show me where Christ stood up and said conmdemnation to the homosexuals" Well He did not stand up and announced to the followers "today I comdemn the homosexuals" but He spoke at lenght about the laws of Moses.
He mentioned the laws of Moses, He the Son of God knows all things, He knew then and now that the laws are impossible to follow to a T and achieve salvation. Under the law NO ONE would be saved, NO ONE, NOT NO ONE, We all (humanity) come short of the Glory of God.
But for those who received Him then and receive Him now; He also commands us to turn away from our sinful ways. In the New Testament, he was critized greatly by the religious mongers for talking and even eating with people they considered reprochable. He said in response, I came for these.
To the woman who had been married a number of times, He commanded, go and sin no more. He cured the sick, and He also told us HIs followers, to go and be the salt of the earth. Matthew 13-16
There is no doubt among HIs true followers that there is transformation upon encountering Christ.
I'll refer again that in In Matthew 5:17 Jesus said “Don’t misunderstand why I have come; it isn’t to cancel the laws of Moses and the warnings of the prophets. No, I came to fulfill them, and to make them all come true. 18. With all the earnestness I have I say: Every law in the Book will continue until its purpose is achieved
Our salvation He fulfilled upon His death on the cross and His resurrection on the third day. But He wants us to turn away from sin, and repent. His calling is a very High calling.
Can we achieve it? NO, not on our own strength, it would be impossible, just like it was in the days when He came. Was He bold in reprimending even the leaders and the Pharisees? we know He was and they hated Him for it. As the Son of God He detested sin then and does today. But in order for our Salvation and our Restoration to be fulfilled He had to come to earth in human form and die for all of us. ALL includes the homosexuals, the left handed, the poor, the rich, the prostitues, the goody-goody two shoes, the heterosexuals. And if truly given, through Him we can be changed.
Who brought sin into the world? the snake? well it took the appearance of; but it was satan. The deceiver.
Jesus' taught about many sins according the the laws of Moses throughout the New Testament, under this law, we all have sinned, one example; LUST. How many of us are guilty of this one?
However, in Christ if we confess our sins, He is just to forgive us of our sins....
But we must repent and turn away from sin
Are you His follower? Have you accepted Him as your personal Saviour?

How can _anyone_ in their right mind be a Christian. The first iteration of their religion was so flawed that _no one_ could achieve salvation by it. Yet, add a few more chapters to the storybook, and suddenly everything works out, god is a loving god, and everyone can get saved.
But what about those who were unfortunate enough to live in BC times? Oh well, fsck em, its their own damn faults for living in the wrong era.
When will people realize that their precious religion is foobared?
shavornes 11-30-03, - 06:39 PM How can _anyone_ in their right mind be a Christian.
Joe Baboon, how can anyone in their "right mind" not be a christian!
The first iteration of their religion was so flawed that _no one_ could achieve salvation by it.
There are many because of Jesus Christ,(the son) who are in right standing with God (the father) The ONE and ONLY God, the creator of all things including you to Joe.
Yet, add a few more chapters to the storybook, and suddenly everything works out, god is a loving god, and everyone can get saved.
The "BIBLE" itself serves as the one true authentic authoriatative book in the world. If this is not true what is all the fuss about?
But what about those who were unfortunate enough to live in BC times? Oh well, fsck em, its their own damn faults for living in the wrong era.
You too had been given a chance to believe or not to believe--The choice is all yours. I believe everyone will be given the choice and had been given the choice. My God is a just God!
When will people realize that their precious religion is foobared? When will you realized that this is not a fictional thing, or whatever you believe it to be . This is REAL all you have to do is believe it!
"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compares to what lies within us" I know and believe that Christ lives in me.. He can live in you to if you let him.

Please answer the question, rather than throwing the defensive drivel you have been brainwashed to believe.
How can you be part of a religion that at one time damned all of its followers to hell by forcing them to live up to impossible standards? Isn't it suspect that the rules were changed to make it seem fair and acceptable later on? I find it very hard to believe that something as "divine" and "perfect" as the old man in the sky you call God could goof up and have to change the rules.
shavornes 11-30-03, - 07:48 PM Please answer the question, rather than throwing the defensive drivel you have been brainwashed to believe.
I am in no way being defensive. That is not my intentions and I am far from being brainwashed. I believe because I know God's word is LIFE and TRUTH. Have you ever considered that you are probably the one that is brainwash? Just give it a thought."thinking: The talking of the soul with itself."
How can you be part of a religion that at one time damned all of its followers to hell by forcing them to live up to impossible standards?
How can I not be a part of religion that gives salvation to all freely.
Isn't it suspect that the rules were changed to make it seem fair and acceptable later on?
Joe, the rules were never changed. The guideline are still the same. All one have to do is "Believe" in the ALMIGHTY GOD. Jesus came that we all may have life abundantly.
I find it very hard to believe that something as "divine" and "perfect" as the old man in the sky you call God could goof up and have to change the rules. Joe donot be decieved, GOD has not changed any rules. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. His LOVE is perfect and He Loves you to Joe, more than you can ever imagine.
Vicky 12-01-03, - 11:14 AM Hi Prascilla yoy have written with what seems to be a great knowledge of the Bible.
The Laws of Moses are the Holyness code.
What is the purpose of the Holyness Code???
Vicky 12-01-03, - 06:49 PM Your question has been "show me where Christ stood up and said conmdemnation to the homosexuals" Well He did not stand up and announced to the followers "today I comdemn the homosexuals" but He spoke at lenght about the laws of Moses.
Now we are getting some where. Now if homosexuality were that important an issue don't you think Christ would have said something??? Why if it was not that great an issue that Christ did not teach about it why do christians have such a big issue with it????
Do you live by the all the laws of Moses???? (which by the way is the Holyness code) As I pointed out before you don't. You can't judge other people by the Holyness Code unless you judge yourself by the Holyness Code. Judge not lest you be judged by the same measure you judge others. You can't pick and choose which laws to follow or we can pick and choose to.

What is sin???
Who brought sin into the world? the snake? well it took the appearance of; but it was satan. The deceiver. Who Created the deceiver???????
That must be why Bahamians are so scared of snakes here in the Bahamas. I have seen people go into a panic and kill snakes yet there are no poisonous snakes here in the Bahamas. Fear and ignorance = violance. No one has died of a snake bite in the Bahamas. How many people die from cars yet we don't destoey them.
Jesus' taught about many sins according the the laws of Moses throughout the New Testament, under this law, we all have sinned, one example; LUST. How many of us are guilty of this one?
Yes but Christ never refered to homosexuality see above in blue.
However, in Christ if we confess our sins, He is just to forgive us of our sins....

The first iteration of their religion was so flawed that _no one_ could achieve salvation by it.
There are many because of Jesus Christ,(the son) who are in right standing with God (the father) The ONE and ONLY God, the creator of all things including you to Joe. With out the Creator creating it, It could not exist.
Even gays lesbians bisexuals and transgendered.
When the Creator was finished on the 6th day the Creator said it is good.
Yet, add a few more chapters to the storybook, and suddenly everything works out, god is a loving god, and everyone can get saved.
The "BIBLE" itself serves as the one true authentic authoriatative book in the world. If this is not true what is all the fuss about?
Wrong Chistianity in a minority religion compared to some. When you group all none Christian religions, Christianity is a drop in the bucket.

Vicky, I was referring to the "Bible" as a "Text", not based on a religion agenda. You and I know there are alot of so called religion in the world, BUT there is truly one "original Source" --The B-I-B-L-E-.
Some religion uses and takes from the scripture what seems to be beneficial to their thinking or in another term "scripture fits the way they want it to". We need to be careful not to do that and stop finding and twisting scriptures to fulfil our desires and pleasures.
k.o.o.l.b.o.n.z.e 12-03-03, - 08:20 AM You and I know there are alot of so called religion in the world, BUT there is truly one "original Source"
are you really trying to say that christianity and it's many sects are the only religions in existance or the only ones that you acknowledge? what about religions that existed before christianity? weren't they "original" religions or practises?

So True Koolbonze I don't know where Shavrones is comming from. The Bible is new compared to most other writings. The Bible we read today has gone through many changes.
It is not the original source. Its made up of the Old Testament which is the laws and history of the Israelites. The New Testament which contain the teachings of Christ and letters and opinions of the apostials. The writings of Bhudda are much older than the New Testament and teach very much the same thing Christ taught.
We maybe drifting a bit from the main point of this thread but, with all due respect to Shavornes, she said, "You and I know there are a lot of so called religions in the world, BUT there is truly one "original Source" --The B-I-B-L-E-."
There is a myth we need to clear up. The Bible is not the oldest holy book in the world. Nor is it the only (or original) source. Much of what it says can be found in much older writings. Judaism and Christianity has borrowed from earlier writings. For example, the Ten Commandment. We are told that this was the first time that God gave man laws to live by. The truth is The Code of Hammurabi, the Sumerian Code, Hittite Code, Middle Assyian Code, predate the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments borrowed heavily from these earlier writings.
The Story of Noah comes from the Epic of Gilgamesh.
The book of Proverbs borrows from The Teachings of Am-en-ern-ope.
Proverbs says, "Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. Prov. 27:1"
The teachings of Am-en-ern-ope says, "Do not go to bed worrying, wondering: What will tomorrow bring? No one knows what tomorrow brings. Amen-eo-ope 19:11"
The story of Jesus and the story of the Buddha are so alike (in many parts) that one has to have borrowed from the other. The Buddha is 500 years older that the Christ. There is an excellent book called "The Original Jesus" by Elmar R. Gruber and Holger Kersten. Published by Element Press 1995. It is worth reading. They show where the Gospels borrowed extensively from Buddhist writings. In fact the book's sub title is, The Buddhist Sources of Christianity.
All of this borrowing does not make the impact of the Christian scriptures any less important. Religions do borrow from each other. There is no problem in that. The problems arise when a religion thinks that it is the first, the one and only thing - and that their thought is pure and original! Christianity and the Bible have a part to play in the lives of men and women but it is not the one and only and not fully original. It is like all religions and religious writings, a compilation of what has come before.
Vicky 12-10-03, - 07:00 PM Hi CG
It is amazing how these Bible pounding so call them selves Christians back down when confronted with their own words. Then they just run and hide when new facts show that the things they hold to be true are not true.
Come on you homophobic Christians what did Christ say about Homosexuality.
If Christ did not have an issue with it why do you????????

Right on Vicky
I have noticed that they have a tendency to clam up when confronted with someting they actually find logic. THE DISCUSSION JUST ENDS period.
It must be really scary to realise that what you actually thought seems WRONG. It must be somewhat the Germans felt after the WW2, at least many of them realised it was wrong to murder other people because of their ethnic background(jews).
I really pity the thickheaded narrowsighted and arrogant Christians.
Ostrom
Vicky, you asked "What did Christ said about homosexuality?" The answer is, Nothing. What his silence on the subject means is open to interpretation. But there is one thing Jesus did not like and spoke out against, hypocrites.
There are a lot of sins in the Bible for us to chose from. Many of us do them on a regular bases. Judging from the number of "out of wedlock babies" that are born in the Bahamas (and world wide) the heterosexual population is doing a lot of fornication and committing a lot of adultery. But somehow we don’t see that as a sin any more - well, not like it used to be!
Jesus said nothing on homosexuality but he did say, and I’ll paraphrase "Take the plank out of your own eye, then you will be able to take the speck out of your brother’s eye" He also said something else. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone..." Are any of us really in a position to condemn anyone else? As I see it, the real sin is hypocrisy because none of us has clean hands, at least not clean enough to pick up a stone!
