cleared. as for the mace, I guess it siginified Bahamian law being irrelevant to the majority of us...so out the window it went because it wasnt reflective of most of us and didnt pertain to most of us.

Yea. Aint is special?
You can not put the throwing of the mace up against any other incident in our history....aside from, the marginally distant second of the 92 FNM victory.
:hammer:
Everyone knew, even the PLP knew, they were out!
I was a teenager then, unseasoned in politics, but even I felt it. The pulse that ripped the air in the 92 election was too thick. Man it was a great day to be a Bahamian. Even if my voice did not count. I felt a part of it, because I knew the outcome before hand...and I feel as if my spirit, helped in some way.

Those two events shaped the character of the Bahamian people.
To Ping and Ingraham I am happy and proud to be a Bahamian!

Can't a fella just exhault his affection for his country?
Can't I proclaim my satisfaction, amidst the belligerent noise of chaos?
:)

It isn't about exuberance, but about asking the question on a very important historical event.

What to know what a White guy though of it? It was a "storm in a tea-cup!" a bit of political nonsense. But some though it worse! There was even a move to bring in British troops, but Sir Roland put a stop to it. However, I believe there was a Destroyer anchored beyond the horizon, just in case.
The PLP accused the UBP of messing with the boundaries making it impossible for the PLP to win. The next election proved that to be wrong. Seems to me the PLP made the same accusation against the FMN in the last election - that proved to be wrong too. PLP like to make noise! and it works too :)

I am not aware of how the boundaries were drawn in 1962 but can tell you without a doubt that the cutting of the boundaries prior to the 1997 General Election was the most outstanding example of Gerrymandering in the history of politics anywhere in the world.
