View Full Version : 92...The year Bahamians changed their minds!
Alien 01-24-07, - 10:22 AM This is another moment in history for the Bahamas. We made up our minds, and made change.
Folks were dancing in the streets. In the rain, the rain was pouring....cars were honking. The streets were packed.
I remember Mr. Hannah at Hannah's hardware, dancing in the streets with tears running down his face. Cars were letting him dance!
My uncle was in the back with his tally sheet. "He was PLP". Just earlier my two other uncles, who had fresh turned FNM were telling him it was over. They were fed up and they were PLP all of their natural life. But, one of them stood firm. He was on the losing end of it. Even he admitted afterwards that he knew it.
That was a crazy night. Culminating with Hubert Ingraham in the middle of the night, looking shocked at his victory, making his way through a sea of supporters, cameras flashing, people cheering, he was as calm and as chocked as ever.
That was a night. I was a young man, and even I felt the air change. Before the votes were tallied up, I knew it was something going down.
It was time, the Bahamian people made up their minds and it was just time.
:)
WinterGrace 01-24-07, - 10:42 AM Yea, I remember that night, Nassau was light right up, streets were impassable. Pindling came on tv, to address the nation with tears in his throat, at least he still had some decency left in him.

Now you want to talk about the great victory. That is all you had to talk about. Instead you wanted to take cheap shots, and a dead man. How sick can YOU be.
Swine...pig.
You really have to be a dirt bag, for me to call you out on it.
Sick swine!

It was a very magical intense day. Things were different and you could have felt it. I think those first few years under the FNM were very very special times.

I think everyone can remember what they were doing at that time. It is funny the recent PLP victory did not invoke that for me at least.
