View Full Version : Tribune ... biggest threat to PLP re-election..
watsayu 01-31-07, - 09:42 AM ... wow, what I guess the PM wanted to say, was that when the Tribune exposes the truth it will certainly cause the PLP to get run right out of office....
So Sad ... SO done....
word is that the Tribune is about to reveal more scandals.. more...
Stay tune more to come...
Fancy 02-14-07, - 08:17 PM The Tribune seems to always portray the Bahamas in a bad light. Nearly all of their headlines are negative. I mean..seriously...I thought the press was supposed to be impartial. If you dont believe me..look back at some of their headlines. ...and yes... they have always been a threat to any PLP election.
I hear they may be facing a lawsuit over those pics. I hope so ... I hope it buries them....

The Tribune reports the scandalous actions of public officials: FNM and PLP. It is not the PLP's PR firm. Leave that to BIS and ZNS. Shane potrayed the Bahamas in a bad light. He just showed how corrupt this government is. A public official in lust with a D-list "star." Just so happens that the "star" was granted residency with unusual haste.
He was stupid for allowing himslef to be compromised. Anna could have used those photos against him too if he didn't toe the line.

what you perceive as negativity could very well be the truth...some people have a problem with reading the truth. need I remind you that the tribune is in the business of selling papers...if it een broke why fix it and if you do like it...dont read!

I guess if the Tribune is buried it will be right on the top of Shane and the PLP. My guess is that the Tribune will be here long after the PLP and shane is no more! The issue is not the tribune, the issue is whether shane Gibson the minister is good news for the Bahamas? That is the question. Leave the messenger alone!
Fancy 02-14-07, - 09:03 PM I'm not rallying for them to be the PLP or FNM's ad firm. I need them to be less biased. I'm sure no one on here can honestly say that the Tribune is unbiased. More importantly, I wish that they would think of the effects certain things could have on our Country's reputation internationally before they run them.
It was irresponsible of them to run those photos. You don't need to ruin your country's reputation for a few newspaper sales. ...and I am in no way condoning what Shane did. He should not have put himself in that position.
Politics should be left out of it. We need to think about the country.
well they arent online and i dont read papers or books so it wouldnt be missed by me .. however they really do need to get online and with the times .. even the Nassau Guardian is online .. barely .. but they are there ..
Tafadhali 02-14-07, - 09:21 PM . We need to think about the country.
funny that's what I thought shame gibson shouldve been thinking, because its obvioushe didnt...touche.
if he had resigned the other night yinna know this would be immaterial today...right?

It is shane who should have protected the image of the country when he was photographed in the Bed of all people--Anna nicole Smith. Fancy, wake the hell up! Shane is the Minister, not the Tribune. It is in the public interest to have the Tribune print those photos. Our public figures must account for their stewardship.
The Tribune was not there when shane was being photographed and they certainly was not there when he was lock up in annas room alone for hours according to annas former nanny. By his own admission shane said that he took many photos at the house. He was at the house so much he could not remember when the Tribune photos were taken!
So please stop your nonsense and put the blame where it deseve to be put-- at the feet of shane Gibson.
If you really care about the country's reputation you should be calling for shane's resignation from the cabinet fortwith!
FACTS ONLY 02-14-07, - 09:41 PM As a reader of ALL local newspapers, every day. I read them, then decide what is meat and what is scrap. The Tribune have ALWAYS had hard hitting reporters. Apart from Nicky Kelly there was one called Athena Damianos who Sir Lynden despised. When Nicky Kelly wrote her column, Hubert Ingraham hated her. Right now just about every Cabinet Minister hates the Tribune. Thats the way it is.
For those of you who have just started reading the newspapers this may be a shock. Most prominent newspapers around the world have their critics. Thats when you know they are doing something right.
The Tribune is in the business of selling papers last time I heard. Their circulation has improved by leaps and bounds which means that their critics buy them just to criticise.
If we were in Britain most of our Cabinet would have been hounded out of government a long time ago. Its a good thing most of our reporters are young and still in awe of politicans because those jokers would have been dragged across the coals every time they turn around.
Last year while I was in England, an immigration judge and his immigration judge girlfriend, had to resign when the illegal sexy brazilian maid they were sharing, admitted that both of them knew she was there in England working illegally after the girlfriend had her arrested for blackmailing her with a tape of the judge using drugs at her house. What the judge girlfriend didn't know was, the maid was having an affair with her judge boyfriend as well, and also had tapes of herself and the judge boyfriend having sex. It was a salacious story since both immigration judges were highly respected and were known for having a no nonsence stance when it came to illigal immigrants.
The British press was brutal. I cringed when I thought of our public officals being scrutinized like that. See our people like to play the GOD card.

It wasn't even for newspaper sales entirely. They have an agenda....we all know, what side the Tribune takes in this town.
