It’s quite interesting to observe the numerous accolades that the Prime Minister has received from various speakers over the past few days of the PLP convention. I appreciate the fact that tribute must be paid to the party’s current leader, but it’s beginning to seem more and more like a ‘bow to our chief’ gathering. While this is a celebration of the party’s 50th anniversary, there should be no aversion to ‘stepping on a few corns’ to make sure that everyone involved in the leadership of the party stays sharp. Any organization that only accepts persons who follow without questioning or challenging its leadership is destined to become stagnant and obsolete. That’s my personal opinion, but I guess that’s one reason why I’ve never been invited into politics. :D I do believe that politicians should stay true to their own, but never at the expense of losing faith in the eyes of the public because of overwhelming acceptance of seemingly mediocre leadership.

The PLP’s founding members were known as revolutionaries. Some of their tactics may not have been altogether forthright, but at least they clearly showed the path that they were following through their intense actions. Long speeches and obtuse rhetoric cannot begin to solve the problems that this country will face if we continue to address our society’s challenges in the timid and hesitant manner that the present government is. Dare I say that the revolutionaries have gotten old? The same passion for this nation that Sir Lynden and his peers were able to harness needs to be revived posthaste! The world today, with the continuous advent of new technologies, runs literally at the speed of light. Decisions need to be rapidly, yet acutely made. A government that lags along when making its policy determinations may actually benefit slightly from ‘playing it safe,’ but the cost of this is the lack of progress that will inevitably plague its citizens, leaving them at a great disadvantage. The truth of the matter is that The Bahamas is not prepared for the 21st century. To deny this fact, one must be living on a third-world rock somewhere in the middle of the ocean…

Oops. :shhh:

We need to inject some new life into this nation. My people, my people, my people, we need to wake up.

You know dat! Thinking about this convention, if they are to talk about their accomplishments then I am assuming this will be the shortest convention in the history of all conventions. After the 2 hour prayer, it should be dismissed.:gi:

I will be tuned into this to see what they have to say.
I just hope it isn’t same-ole-same-ole.

:bouncy:

I can’t wait for both the main parties to unveil their list of candidates. Then I will make up my mind on who I will vote for.

I beg to differ with you on your last statement! The supereme truism in your statement should read: "Bahamian Politicians are not ready for the 21 century....our blind leaders such as PC and most of those shisters you just mentioned are this country's greatest liability!!:cutie: They are least interested in our country outadvancing their ability to continue to full their pockets!

I actually want the good ol'e days, where we had smart FNM's on this site, and they used the spell check with perfection.
I want the good ol'e days, where the site FNM's were not so bitter, and actually had an agenda.
I want the good ol'e days, where the FNM's of this site had substance, and less flame bait.

But, those days are gone......

Speaking of CDR....are the lost? i havent heard one sylable about their ideas. All I have heard from them is.......that they have ideas. Despite people talking about how they are tired of the two party system, I will be shocked if any other party wins a seat. PLP and FMN still has to work hard, because these other parties are, or will have the potential to take a key number of votes at the polling stations.
