freedom of speech right out the door

QUOTE From Newspaper:"The speech also contained a warning to vocal FNM opponents. While assuring the public that the PLP will not tolerate victimisation, Mr. Christie lashed out at FNMs for victimising PLPs. He also "promised" them they will face prosecution with "maximum severity", rather than victimisation, for victimising PLPs or behaving "contrary to public interests".

Same ole PLPs & FNMs fighting amoung themselves. This country need an extremist group of individuals that can shape this country in order. I remeber being a student at COB when Fred Mitchell was going around selling the idea of changing our governmental structure to that of the US. I welcomed his opinion greatly on the idea of the Prime Minister being elected seperately. what happen to his veiws now. I tell people whenever they complain, look in the mirror anD ask themself, who did i vote for. Until we change the system and vote for men who wants to be controll, then we are headed in the direction of Jamaica, Trinidad, Hait, etc. Our kids would end up as servants, & gardeners in foreign lands. I say to all serious adults, lets get rid of all those OLE CROOKS.

Hope it wasn't the Tribune or the Punch.

Hope it wasn't the Tribune or the Punch.

Don't sleep on The Punch.

That newspaper tells you straight up how it is. Most times the persons that the news stories are about will deny the truth in public, but those articles are factual or else they couldn't be printed.

If The Punch's stories weren't true, there would be a line around the block waiting to sue them. Can you say "libel"?

THAT'S IT. no matter who you vote for or which party is in power they will do something to piss you off. Someone brought up an intersting point in another thread, how come the MP for bain town doesnt live in bain town; why do all of these MP live out EAST and WEST behind the gates off of OUR money. look at Prime Minister Perry Christie, after he win election he gone puttin that big hell of a wing on his house whilst at the same time many families in THE BAHAMAS, some a stone throw away from his door goes to bed hungry. You have been a victim of the hype created by those who have been exposed in the pages of The Punch.

Reality check: The Punch helpd the FNM get into office and helped the PLP "get back into office". It's not a "political" paper. Step out of the fracas of PLP and FNM finger pointing, open your eyes and look at the issues from a politically neutral standpoint.

Today's politicians have been able to control this country through "party politics" for far too long. Don't mind the party bashing that our leaders do to each other; at the end of the day all of them are friends, while their constituents and party-faithfuls fight and quarrel with each other.

A victim aye, well Yorick if I could only tell you of the things I see on a day to day basis.ps As to this statement I tink you need to direct this @ yourself if you believe the punch is neutral & that it really makes a difference on election day "open your eyes and look at the issues from a politically neutral standpoint."

Look at it from this point of view.

What paper dares expose corruption on either side without fear of reproach?
What paper dares to tell you "who is sweethearting who" and playing for the "other" team?
What paper is read by almost all of our government/religious leaders, if only to make sure that they aren't in it?

I must admit that there are certain writers within The Punch's pages that seem to have a certain bias towards a certain political affiliation. I suppose those articles make it seem like a (insert political party here) paper, but over the long haul, it is my opinion that they just tell it how it is.

IF our "leaders" can only behave themselves, then they wouldn't have to worry about making it into The Punch and having to "defend" themselves. Of course, they can only sweep their dirt under the rug for so long.

Eventually people who can see past their political ties turn to The Punch for the real deal 'cause "The Punch don't pull no punches".

i agree all these politicians are friends at the end of the day. also the punch is the most nuetral paper in the bahamas no one can say that the punch never said anything bad about the FNM becuase it is PLP and no one can say the punch is FNM becuase it never says anything bad about the PLP. The PUNCH tells it like it IS and thats how i am. I could be consider to be FNM but I will be the first to say they a bunch of crooks, like i said both parties aint ready yet.
