Many of us are angry with B.E.C. workers because of “The Black-out,” but I sincerely believe they had nothing to do with that power outage last week; nevertheless perception is reality.
With respect to an increase in salary, I think they derisive every penny they are asking for, because these workers are some of the hardest workers in the country.
They also carry out some of the most dangerous task in the country, in addition to that B.E.C. to date has not compensated many of their workers who have died while working on the job.
B.E.C. as a corporation makes millions of dollars with interest from our deposit as consumers; and we get nothing back, yet we are willing to allow them to continue to exploit poor people in this country. Hell no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is the common belief of many that BEC workers are already the highest paid workers in government. Yet, the worker’s union says they are not, I heard them on a radio talk show.
So, which is it? If BEC workers want a pay rise, then let them tell us what they are making - including benefits! That way we can support them or not.

Why should they tell you what they are making? I thought a contract dispute was between management and employee.By the way BEC is not the highest paid workers in government, also when a linesman has to get out of his bed at 2am he should be compensated for that,I am sure you would want to be.PEACE

Nicholas Jacques started this thread asking us to support the BEC workers. How can I do that unless I have all the facts? Your claim is that they are not paid enough. How do I know that? I cant unless I am told how much they are paid now?
As for a linesman getting out of bed at 2am. That is part of his job and it does not happen every night!

CG I never said that that they are not paid enough, also it's actually the shift crews job and not the regular linesman's job.And do you believe that every thing that you support that you have all the facts.
they should be lucky they have a job.

No, but I try! It would be foolish to support something with no facts at hand! One big fact is "what are the wages?" You may have not said that they are not paid enough but the Union is!
with all other non gov workers/small biz owners suffering right now becasuse of the bad economy, they should ultimately not get a raise right now, wait ubtil the economy gets better. it would be dumb to give a raise right now.
