View Full Version : montagu traffic and smell
ok, what do you all think should be done with that smelly fish ramp they have at montagu, that causes traffic jams during ruah hour traffic times, and how dirty and smelly it is kept, talk about endangering the enviroment! Not to mention it causes stress at that light because of morons either pulling up their jeyskis during rush hour or pulling over SLOWLY AND BLOCKING TRAFFIC to buy that dirty germ filled fish they sell there!~

Agree with everything you said, Rory. I recall a big argument about the 'big' people trying to push around the 'little' people when the suggestion to relocate the fish market at Montague was first mooted years ago. i also recall the Hon F Mitchell joining the chorus of people determined to make it stay. However, the time has really arrived to move the ramp further along the Montague foreshore to a brand new and better facility.
I think the ramp and fish market people do themselves no good in the PR stakes when they seem to deliberately go out of their way to cause as much congestion as possible by their 'go slow' maneuvering of their craft. The boat trailers and jet skis seem to think they can park anywhere at all whether it is legal or not and there is never an officer around to set them straight.
Please let us see reason and halt the bottleneck at this vital part of our city.

Also, i notice everyday, its not just the ramp people or the fishermen etc, people on their way home from work or whatnot, always slow down or full stop to look and see what disgusting thing they have on that ramp today! Geez, from the horrible smell coming from there, how can anyone eat the stuff!
Then after they have slowed down or stopped, they pull up a little even slower just to park halfway on the side of the road and the other half on the main road!

The Bahamian diver needs as little distractions as possible. The ramp at Montagu is just to much of a temptation to slow down and have a look, even if there is no intention of buying any fish!

Let's not forget the flies :driving: :fly:
They can be a big distraction also. :D

Right! It is very detracting - especially if you intent to eat the fish! :what:
