look like i need to move to the U.K. well let me clarify those places with free health care it isnt reallly free the people pay for it through taxes; but thats th type of things taxes should pay for and it is sure better than payin some crooks deisgused as a insurence company a lot of money only to be dropped like a hot potataoe when u take sick. i think the USA is slowly moving to free healthcare. dont let me get started on the bahamaian gov (both parties) they all are doin us poor black bahamians a great injustice with these taxes, becuase they make the bahamas a tax free heaven for all these fat cats who come in here from all over the world to stash their money the government sticks it to us to foot the bill, can some one explain to me how is that freeport which is only about 50 miles from south florida pay almost triple for gas. u know why becuase they gov place such a huge tax on it. we need to run the PLP and FNM otta town cuase they aint doin us right at all

tax free, its just a myth , at least for bahamians.. my bro just moved to machester Uk last year, even with all the tax, its more than 50% less expensive than here ... course cant say the same for london though.

u aint lyin; but the bahamas is too far gone most bahamians would not want smaller income tax, property tax, and tax on items bought for everybody in exchange for things being cheaper. I would say most would rather keep the what i call the POAD tax system (PILE IT ON AT THE DOCK). :shhh:

yeah i bring stuff in all the time for work, and the darn duty is never the same ... it depends what customs officer is on duty, and if there is a problem, and you send it back to them, can wait for a week or so, so we just have to eat it as the clients cant wait .. so so my local price goes up and down so much, as every so often there are such huge increases or decreases in duty to warrant a price change ... in other words thanks to the inadequate customs system we have here, we get screwed and so do our bahamian clients ... thats why prices in the food stores are up and down like a yo yo too ..

its a shame how some of the bahamian people dis respect and talk about the merchants and their prices what they dont relise is it is not their fualt by the time the gov taxes them, they have to charge what they do to stay in business. the merchants in the bahams need to stand up to the government, or form an association to bring those prices down or sumthin. i was so proud when the gas station owners shame the government and spread all their business about the gas tax becuase i never knew it was that much and i dont think the average bahamian knew that the tax the bahamian gov places on gas is as pretty much what americans pay for gas with tax.

what you mean food store prices up and down like yo yo u mussy mean the prices be unconsionably high and then go down to exubrilantly high, eh. we need a resolution, maybe CSME is the answer :dgi:

This sounds alright, except if some of the govt members are big shareholders in the merchant's businesses then nothing would happen!

had a thought, if the crime were to drop, less money for lawyers right, and the politicians are lawyers here, so that means less money for them, as even if they dont have a law office they probably have shares in them .. so yah think maybe they dont want the crime to drop??

The thing is with our culture you cant trust us not to take advantage of the situation!

we are a young nation, and the average person here is on the take!

That's why I am not average...nor do I know anyone on the take...
But Yk2bad...I do need some 'hook ups' so if you know anyone that is willing to deal...let me know...
just kidding...but i was trying to make a point...the people you are talking about are a small, small minority....I fear that I too at times generalize too much due to the frustrations of nothing seems to be changing....But i know for sure that you are not on the take...and you and I make up the majority...

Dear Bahamas Issues,
I have a gripe about the high cost of medical insurance. Our premiums shot up by 60% last year and when we reach the age of 70, our lifetime benefit takes a dive from $1 million to $100,000, just when we might need it the most!

I agree with you. Why pay for medical insurance and it doesn't cover what you paid for.Do you think it's right for medical insurance premiums to increase and not benefit you! They make you pay more and still not cover what you expect them to do.Can someone please explain why when you admit to a medical condition they increase the premiums and does not cover the medical condition:confused:
