Have you ever had a dream or dreams you let go of or gave up on because you thought they would never come true or because life changed and you felt it just couldnt work out?

I remember I had a dream to sing professionally, but as time went on decided that it would be hard to do that and live out my other dreams in the way I wanted to like having a husband and family and actually seeing them on a sensible regular basis...

I believe one should follow ones' dreams, you never know where they will lead. Sometimes they are a dead-end. Other time they never get off the ground but you learn so much even in failing. When one dream fails, get another one! Follow your bliss, as Joseph Campbell was fond of saying because sometimes dreams come true!

As for your dream of singing professionally, maybe not now but never say never to the future. In the mean time join a Choir! Lots of singing chances there. :) Good luck! and keep on dreaming. :)

Thanks. Yeh its true, you never know what the future holds...as for choirs, I've sung in professional corales abroad but I dont have the tolerance to sing in most choirs here..lol. Most people who are in choirs dont know music and many of them cant sing a lick! lol

That could be true. There is nothing more annoying that someone that does not take things seriously - that should be taken seriously!;)

make a joyful noise unto the Lord.....is not quite the same as joyfully make a noise unto the Lord. lol.

but AMEN @ choirs not always being filled with singers that can carry a tune.

dreams never die. ambition, however, does.

...a statistician(getting the numbers right) with the world bank or some NGO of its caliber helping LDC's or some kind of phd'd up analyst with a progressive think tank in dc then moving on to an academic career at my alma mater...(research heavily published in journals and grants galore putting us on the map!)
ive been living in my reality to much lately(bills) so I havent been thinking about my dreams per say...other dreams include sailing and taking pictures and dancing in africa in a tribal ritual and living in london and living in nyc and geting my letters by "08" and working on my phd (will my spouse understand that I want to get into the best school I possibly can and that would also mean Id be away from him for a few years at this time I dont wanna know) and forming an advocacy group helping little black girls and little black boys everywhere and the future of the Bahamas...thanks for this...this reinforces what my friend was saying to me:T let's focus on ourselves for now...I think the wedding aint happening no time to soon.
...its never too late and your relatively youthful, as I (once you have life you have hope and everything eminates therefrom)....how I learned that I met a man who was working on his pharmacy degree in his late 40's (a pharmD takes 6 years mind you) and I remember the story of Bill Cosby's brother Russell who retired from his job at 63 an thereafter got his college degree at 67 (from my school I saw him walk across the stage)...
join a house band at a night club or some upscale restaurant and see if its still a dream of yours. we as woman always think about our biological clock and submitting to the wills of our husbands'...I dont like to think about it Id rather just live in the moment at this point (carpe diem) what god has for me will be given to me.

I feel you. At the same time though sometimes maybe ambition doesnt die, but is re-directed?

I believe its a good and sound thing to follow your dreams..

What I am trying to say is that if you find that you have a strong desire to be or learn a certain profession or trade, I believe you should definitely do it!

I believe that whatever you have a desire to do, especially if its something you have had for a long time...I believe that is one of the talents or gifts the Almighty has given you, and He will help you find a way to accomplish it once you take the steps and begin..

Our talents and gifts can help us to achieve the abundant life we deserve, but if we neglect them we could well regret it in the future.

Not all it's cracked up to be. I did some stunt-c*ck work back in the 90's! Lots of nice, nice girls but no one wants to cuddle afterwards or make you breakfast!
