If you boycott this, you will be forced to boycott the Tribune. The tribune has nothing but oppinion in their lead story. They tell you how THEY see things, not how things are. But, everytime I see an op-ed by Foulkes or the former Minister for Health, I have a good chuckle.
You should take these fellas for what they are worth.

The fortunes of those folk are tied to the PLP; Mr. Jones admitted this before to hs credit.So are the fortunes of Bumpy Watkins..He is a paid consultant of the Government. Their objective is to prevent the FNM under Ingraham from regaining political power and possibly forcing them from the front of the line and accompanying sweetness. Hubert is very spitefull remember? Destroy your enimies that they will never rise again, I would say.

Well the Tribune is not online so I dont read them anyway, this one is.
However, I have not seen so much rubbish as this article in any newspaper before in my life. Now if thats the way the majority of the Bahamas feels then god help the Bahamas is alls I got to say. I could care less about their stupid political run on, its the other stuff in the article that makes it total ignorant rubbish. And if this is the view of the Journal then they should think about that.

[QUOTE=Rory]

Yeah this guy is a horrible writer and for the most part this stuff is not journalism, I wouldn't publish it. But I found two paraagraphs I agree with:

Mr. Mitchell was doing what teachers in the Ministry of Education should have been doing - teaching our children of their origin and how their forebears were brutalized, raped and yes lynched by Whites. How the Blacks were, and in many cases are being exploited by Whites. How White expatriates who are guests in this country on Work Permits are still looking down at, insulting and treating the Brothers and Sisters of color in this nation with contempt and disdain.

I am of the opinion that Government should make it mandatory for Bahamian History to be taught in our schools. Giving Black Bahamians an insight of their origin is definitely not the playing of the Race Card, but the imparting of some necessary history that many of our people are either unaware of, or tends to forget.

Everyone should know their history ofcourse, but see not everyone is going to listen to the other words .. they will see this and think that is happening now .. not everyone is as educated or intelligent as you and others on this forum .. and that scares me that they would be reading this article (if anyone actually buys the journal anyway).

"..brutalized, raped and yes lynched by Whites. How the Blacks were, and in many cases are being exploited by Whites"

Saying Whites and Blacks like this is an attempt to separate the country into 2 races, if they haven't already done that. I thought the whole idea of the old PLP was to create "ONE" Bahamas? So why keep bringing it up? "The White man Killed people like you and me" - might as well just hand out guns and say start shooting all whities? Seems to me like history is repeating itself, the way the UBP separated the races. Its inciting violence and they need to stop. Simply it is saying White Skinned people are evil .. when not all of them were even remotely involved in any of that, nor had the power/money to stop it. White people killed my White people too .. remember WW2, or the English against the Scottish? Black people have been killing black people also .. some people are evil no matter what color skin they have.

If you read on in the article .. "White Boys" is mentioned also .. the author is clearly a racist (or at the least prejudiced, or just has some major mental issues) and deserves no such column in any civilized news paper. Either way it sounds like either a copy paste article, from the beginning of it anyway, then the author must have fallen off the wagon at the end as that part sounds like a drunken slur.

See, now Ive gotta go start carrying my weapons again for self defense, as the past few times I was attacked and kidnapped, there was always a "White boy" slur in there (such as "We Killin a white boy tonight ..") .. and that will never happen again to this "White boy", so help me god!

Anyway, I just wish we can be ONE Bahamas finally, at least where a person's skin color is concerned. Thats all I have to say on the subject. ;)
