Many of our bars, pool halls, churches and schools etc are abuzzed with talk that some of our most prominant leaders and aspairants to high office, dare to say the PM's office, are practicing homosexual...by daily romatic involvements! Not them "push-me-pull-you" type...but full blown "in-the- lifers"!

Some say that this issue has become paramount, such as the Brent Symonette's "race" issue, since one of the PLP's major "drum majors" is romoured to be the "quintesential" homosexual! Something that is contrary to our national psyche...given our cultural heritage.

Now, I have my views on homosexuality and on a person's "right' and ability to hold public office. Quit frankly, I think " I don't care as long as you could do the danm job"...you and ya maker, if ya believe in God, will havta sort out ya "piciddilos" latta! In other words, I don't want to nor need to know if you are a "man-milk-drinker" before you can be fit for the job! Now some er you may disagree fer religious reasons, but I do think tha constitutional rights thing make us all equal...gay or white etc.

I believe that this topic has been forced to the fore by other questions such as race, ability and legacy of slavery! Case in point, "PM aspairant" et al's insistance that those salient social issues help to define leaders and any leader we chose must have "culturally accepted" norms that can wholly endeare him/her to our national sensibillities! And since we say we are a christian nation, this religious issue must be addressed!

However, the more serious reason, as put by one Fox Hillian, "we now gat to decide between a "god faring woman and a "tingum"...and we is a Christian Nation...how we ger do that and then tell the gay ship they can't come here"??!

Next in line, the "big" church guy just finished sayin that they church een wan no gay pastors in there...so how he ger endose a gay PM?

So my question is are you ready for a homosexual PM...and if not, why not!!!:sarcastic

Personally, I would have no problem with it. As long as the person could do the job as PM, more power to them. But then, I am Buddhist. We dont have issues with homosexuals. What one does in their bedroom is their business. On the other hand I cant see the majority of Bahamians, who are Christians and have issues with that life style, embracing a gay PM.

Am I missing something here or what? Don't we already have a gay Prime Minister?

look around the bahamas and u would no the answer is a resounding NO. just like all the other small island nations at this point and time when it comes to the issue of sexuality. Homosexuals are discriminated against. Just like all island nations the majority of bahamians when it comes to this issue their minds are as small as the islands they live on.

i do beleive that out of all the island nations the bahamas will be one of the first to break down discrimination against homosexuals

separate perry the person from perry the pm. I dont know perry the person, only the bumbling idiot of a prime minister(this is who I dont like)...as for the punked out fruit notion...ive heard unsubstantiated stories about his wife catching him with a man...but that isnt my business and all of this allegedly occured under the guise of him being a happily married man with 3 kids and so on and so forth...

:biggie: whaaaaat?

maaaan....i'm always the last person to be in the know. *smh*

lol.

but seriously, the bahamas is not ready for that. hell, if some aren't ready for gay tourists (who will only walk the streets) to visit....i highly doubt they're ready for a gay PM (who will RUN the streets) to rule our land.

don't bother looking for the light switch folks....we are stuck in the dark ages.
