The PLP has only ratified 39 candidates, deciding not to name anyone to contest seats in Bamboo Town and Long Island. Bamboo Town is known to be a stronghold of Independent and former FNM Cabinet Minister and MP Tennyson Wells, while Larry Cartwright, former Independent turned FNM MP in Long Island, is hoping to emerge victorious as he runs against Independent candidate James Miller.

Other candidates ratified on Friday evening at the PLP's Gambier House on Farrington Road include

Health Minister Senator Dr Bernard Nottage, who will contest the Bain and Grant's Town seat now held by Minister Bradley Roberts. Nottage's ratification puts to rest all speculation that Rev CB Moss or Attorney Criag Butler would have received the nomination for that constituency. Bain and Grants Town MP Bradley Roberts will now serve as election coordinator for the PLP, sources reveal.

Attorney Wallace Rolle was given the nomination in South Beach, as backbencher Agatha Marcelle announced her intention to step down from front-line politics last month to establish a training organization for Bahamian youth. Mr Rolle's nomination also puts to rest any speculation that Attorney Fayne Thompson had been tapped to receive the nod in South Beach.

Businessman and former Royal Bahamas Defence Force Officer Jackson Ritchie was nominated to contest the newly formed Clifton seat.

Businessman Richard Treco will be the PLPs standard-bearer in the newly formed St Ann's constituency and Hope Strachan was nominated to run in the newly formed Seabreeze constituency.

Clifton, Jackson Ritchie.

St. Ann's constituency, Richard Treco.
Seabreeze Constituency, Attorney Hope Strachan
Golden Isles, Michael Halkitis.

PLP Chairman, Raynard Rigby called the slate of candidates as "impressive", I maintain that 95% of them are simply crooks...
