5 years old! So sad ...
I wonder if the Cable Bahamas truck used their signal .. if not, no way to tell now besides the drivers word .. Either way they were probably flying .. but if the Cable Bahamas driver didnt use a signal, he needs to live with the fact that he was also responsible for the death of the kid. Drivers that dont use signals should be locked up!

In other news .. this evening on Eastern Road a Taxi (#15) overtook me on a blind corner .. there was no way for him to tell if another vehicle was coming .. and he was flying .. well lets just say I wasnt exactly going slow .. this guy came up on my butt like he had no brakes .. i couldnt believe it when he overtook .. not just the speed .. but also where he was overtaking.. that small piece of road just after johnson road, before the next bend! He got stuck behind a car in front of me ... guess my horn blowing and flashing brights scared him .. for the monent. People need to know learn to drive around here .. I mean Im not exactly the defensive driver of the year myself .. but this is getting bad .. no law enforcement on the road .. and it all turns to hell! :realmad:

Oh yeah, and here are 2 more than need licenses revoked:

The accident with the 5 year old is sad and could have been prevented.

I know the section of Eastern Road that you speak of, and trust me I've seen worse.

You know the Fox Hill/Prince Charles intersection at Blanco Bleach? Well, I was heading North on fox Hill Road, and I stopped at Blanco Bleach, a few cars from the red light. I look in my rear view - something I always do - and I see this white jeep hauling ***** behind me....I say to myself, awww $hit he;s gonna hit me, so I start thinking what to do, but decide to brace myself because I was stuck behind other cars. The next thing I know, the guy goes into the lane of oncoming cars, overtakes 4 cars waiting at the RED stoplight (including me) and proceeds to fly through the intersection of traffic travelling on Prince Charles!

I was like WELL COMIN HOME!!! I don't know to this day how this guy survived bey....that was something outta da movies man.....this guy never took his foot off the gas pedal...I was so shaken up I could hardly drive.

In all fairness, the incident with the 2 jitneys was not as you think it was. The driver of the jitney that rear-ended the other, passed out at the wheel. I know the owner of the bus service.

That happened to me one time through Claridge Rd. I was overtaking, and the "Church bus" was turning right, and they clipped me on the drivers side of the car.

Luckily it was low impact, but I guess this is the same type of accident.
The thing is, the Church bus's signal was not working either. But they had the right of way, as I was not supposed to be overtaking at a corner. So I paid my fine, and went off into the sunset.

The Church folks, who happened to be Haitian, never showed up to court.

Yep, I wont mention exactly where on Eastern Road I live, but ive seen worse also right outside my appt. even had pieces of wall come flying at my window at 4am one time .. its a dangerous bend and people actually overtake on it .. most of the time running other cars off the road, and generally its always been around 3am in the morning and all but 1 were drunk.

What you mentioned above though, thats an everyday occurance in Nassau, there's no law on the roads and the criminally minded take advantage of that. When i see someone coming like that, I is try stick right out to block them .. but thats me .. :D

I hear you on the jitneys ..

if the child was in a booster seat and wearing a seat belt i am sure he would have survived.

Um.....you eeen see dat jeep ey? No way anyone other than the driver would have survived. I'm surprised he even lived. And he will only live to bear the guilt for the rest of his life.

yes i did c the picture and if u noticed the article said the kid was in the back and most of the damage to the rear seems to be on the roof and other side of the vehicle i would agree that if it were an adult in the back they would be hurt. but if the child was properly restrained to the seat he would not be dead tonight. ie in a booster seat bucked down in the center of the back seat

i say this becuase the child would be smaller than an adult. the damage did not extend to the height and position the child would have been if he was restrained properly. but becuase he wasnt seated properly during the crash he was flung around like a rag doll.and suffered propbably blunt force truama
