Do you ever see the Representative for your area? I live in St. Margaret - it was Montague and now I think it is Montague again or is it St Anns? I have lived here for fifty years! Once! Only once has a Candidate every come to see me to get my vote - once! I have never heard or seen any of my reps over the fifty years (Dupuch put a Christmas card on my gate one year, but that is about it.)

So what about you?

I live in St. Cecelias and last i see Mother Pratt she was on Tv offering up a prayer. Lmao.I dont think anyone hardly ever sees their rep on a regular basis in teh years between elections. Thats just how our process is. Sad but true.

Voter confusion has started already...tanks Perry!

I saw my representative once (Montague) but I think it is a little unrealistic to expect a personal visit from your representative....given the number of households and the busy schedules, it is difficult to see everyone.

I think it is important for representatives to schedule special time during the year to meet with constituents...ect. personal appointments, town meetings or block parties/cookouts.

I personally don't recall ever seeing my MP in my area....but I don't really feel I need to. I feel that if I have a problem that needs to be brought to his attention, I shall seek him.

But then again, I'm an independent woman, so I don't really care to have someone looking over my shoulder anyway. :)

Nope, never have. Dont need to though. But I do believe that MPs should have regular town meetings and keep their constituency offices open and staffed - after all, we the taxpayers pay for them to have allowances for those offices - so if they are not open regularly and staffed they are robbing us.

Its unrealistic for everyone to see their MP on their front door, but in the age of technology and good old fashion common sense, MPs can stay in touch on the ground and make sure they represent their areas.

Ofcourse there is the all important work of the House - and lets not even go there on how most MPs perform in that place!!

I don't expect them to be on the door step every five minutes but you would think that more that one in fifty years would stop by!

I sometimes used to wonder if people think MPs have that much time and esspecially in New Providence. Some people expect thier MPs to know their names!....thousands of names!

My MP in Lucaya gives out his newsletter every year and a christmas card/calender. Last year it looks like he was sending stuff through the mail! Talk about upgrade!
