just curious, did the FNM get permission to use the Tina Turner's hit as their leading soundtrack?

I doubt it...

Screw copyrights anyway.
If art is a park, copyrights are the fences

Fair use of the work is applicable if the snippet of her song is less than or equal to 30 seconds long. It can be used in a long song, but the parts of the original used cannot exceed 30 seconds.

Exactly, which is why I believe you only see song samples as 30 secs.

And fair use is why Weird Al can do his parodies without needing permission.

again, why can't they use a bahamian tune? the brilanders' 'party in the backyard' or bahamen's "who let the dogs out' or ronnie's "shotgun wedding" would be appropriate anthems for either major party:shhh: ...

maybe you would want to make your recommendations to the PLP.. the FNM uses Bahamian music.. but the words .... simply the best is what they want at this time.... thank you madam....

and a song over 25 years old can be considered public domain

Think of the alternative songs from Tina - they fit good too

'Let's stay together' <-- CB Moss' themesong
'what's love got to do with it' <-- shANeS' song
'better be good to me' <-- PLP anthem to the people
'we don't need another hero' <-- People's anthem to the PLP
'Typical male'! <-- funny
'what you get is what you see' <-- Life in the opposition
'I don't wanna fight' <-- yk2bad & watsayu karaoke duet

He wishes to ask but he does not legally have to ask.
