View Full Version : Too Many Churches?
Are there too many churches in the Bahamas?
If we serve the same god, why are there so many churches? There is a huge church on nearly every block. Every fourth person in the Bahamas must be a pastor. I know we need a lot of prayers but do we have to be so divided?
It seems as though every time there is a disagreement in a church, some of the flock go and start their own church. And it seems as though anyone who starts to preach finds some followers. Too many of us are too easily led.
But are there too many buildings called churches in the Bahamas?
theodore 01-03-03, - 10:11 PM To the gentleman who say their is to many churches in the Bahamas. You say we serve the same (god) remember you have the “g” in small cap, that means that god represent the devil and big G represent almighty God.
Many of us serve the same (god) the devil, thats true and thats why we need allot of churches. Remember that God gave the church 5 gifts teachers, pastor, preachers and so on. All churches do not have the same calling every person don't have the same calling also. The bible says that “the harvest is many but the labor is few”, that means that to many people out there need to hear the word of Jesus but there are not many persons out there. What we have is only a hand full!
Example! You want to buy a car costing $10,000 but you only have $1,000. You need more $1000 dollar bills to cover the cost to get the car. Why don't you complain about to much bars out there that killing the people and not helping them? That's why satan is putting allot of bars out so the people could stay in their addiction and sins, same as God, the more churches and the more victory.
Question! If you are fighting a million man army, can you win the war with a thousand man? You should be happy that allot of churches are there so people can go in freely and not to the bars. The plan of the devil is to destroy the work of God by saying there are to many churches. Yes there are some churches that call themselves a church but God doesn't class them as his own. God give you the wisdom to choose the church the church you want to go (good or bad).
Example! There are many banks out there but you have the power to choose how many interest you want by investigating each bank to see who has the most interest on your money, so like wise about the church you must investigate to see who is preaching the true word of God. To know who is preaching the truth is to line up what they are saying with the word of God.
SO TRUE CHURCHES PLEASE OBEY GOD AND START PREACHING ON VERY CORNER SO THE SINNERS CAN COME IN AND BE CHANGE.
classicromeo22 02-05-03, - 02:47 PM TO much churches is just a double jeopardy question and you have to come up with the answer. I am not concern with if their are to many churches but what concerns me is that we are not seeing the affects of these churches in their communitys . For I was taught that were ever light appears darkness shoul flee
most of them are just tents, and alot of them are people who just want to become preachers to get a power trip or think they are jesus or something!
yes there are too many useless churches in the Bahamas, but this is the same in any ghetto in the world, thats where you find all the churches, and they normally dont help stop the youth that attend from turning to crime! :-0
There are in fact too many churches in the Bahamas especially in Nassau's ghetto. There is a reason why you find so many churhes springing up like weeds all over the place. These churches are only interested in the tithes and offering of the people. The majority of those person who attend these shams are truly ignorant of the true purpose behind churhes and their affect on society. I suggest these people read the history of the church from and independent objective source so they can know the churhes true intent and not be so gullible evertime someone decides to start up one of these so call churhes. They just might learn something. Do not always believe a person because they using God's name all the time. These pretend reverend are like wolf in sheep's clothing feeding off the poor and wrethced of our Bahamaland offering false hope for few dollars and a mercedes benze.

I like the way you think.
Churches serve no purpose other than to give the weak and simple minded a crutch to lean on. There is no old man up in the sky watching us and passing judgment. It is nothing more than a fairy tale. Religion only causes corruption, pain and anguish. Look at our current problems? We are in tense relations with the Middle East, and the world recently lost 3000+ people in the NYC terrorist acts. Why? In the name of religion of course. We have India and Pakistan at each others throats with nuclear weapons. Why? Religion.
Does anyone remember a little church revival gone horribly wrong (or right, depending on which angle you look at it) called the "Crusades"? We lash out in the press about Osama and the Al-Queda leaders killing innocent people all over the world, but we forget so quickly how many innocent woman and children were RAPED, TORTURED, and MURDERED in the name of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. The only crime they were guilty of was praising a different spirit in the sky.
Come on people, it is the year 2003, time to let go of that ragged and stained security blanket that is destroying your life. Embrace yourselfs, and the power of positive thinking, you don't need a cash mongering preacher telling you how to live your life.

Why would you want to give such a good credit to slave masters?
The Word was here from the beginning (John 1:1).
Its for Jews, Gentiles, Blacks, Whites, Chinese or Indian and anyone else who wants it. Doesn't the same sun shine on all of us?
The Bible has no contradictions and it doesn't need to be explained by us. We have to be explained by it.
I thank Jesus that love is blind.
I thank Jesus for men like Martin Luther King who walked by faith and not by sight.
Our eyes limit what we see but faith sees all things. Our eyes see the surface but faith sees beneath the surface.
Tell me what is the color of love?
asterz57 05-18-03, - 08:14 PM In my opinion there are too many churches and soo many people who are hurting. I thought the reason for having a church was to comfort the needs of the people and bringing souls to Christ. It is true that on every corner you can find a church, but how many of these churches are there for the money or for the people. I am not condeming anyone because only God can judge but in my opinion for the amount of churches here in Nassau we should have more saved and less hurting people. Only if the church knew how to treat people, thats why there are so many problems in the church today. Nobody knows how to treat one another, so if I see that kind of behavior in the church why should I want to be apart of that.
dacy2003 05-19-03, - 12:03 PM Mr. Joe B...
You are at it again...I'm still waiting for your reply on the other issue, but I guess you are only capable of letting out the evidence of your anger and being very critical about the things of God.
May God meet you on the road that you travel....real SOON!!
To all of you who have so much to offer concerning the different churches or gathering of believers...this is so Biblical, read Revelation, it is written and to "the Churches".
Anyways what are you guys offering for the healing of our land, or is this too much for you? Or are You called only to judge and critize. Do you have any solutions. Besides I believe that we all are a choice to make.
Let God be true and every man a Liar!!

a little harsh dont you think. doesnt sound very christian.
dacy2003 05-20-03, - 10:44 AM Hey Rory,
Christian is not a SOUND!
Some of us are passionate about our faith and dont appreciate the continual attacks. I dont have to justify the Bible or debate wheither or not God exists, I chose to believe!
The days for playing with the world and the critic of the Gospel is over. Especially when what we say is accessible to the WORLD via the internet.
For too long Christians felt obligated to explain or defend their belief...Forget that. If everyone else have a right to express themselves, I do too, and that I will. My intention is not to hurt or to offend, but if anyone respond in that manner that turn to God for He is a HEALER.
Jesus met Paul (Saul) on the road he travelled and look how he turn out. This is my pray for Mr. Joe B, and for anyone else who chose to persecute the Believers.
Remember Jesus was a warrior too, He was not short on answers nor was He afraid to answer. His answer never always please His critics but they understood real good where He stood.
I' m proud to be a Believer, I am not ashame of the Gospel of Jesus Christ...So when you or anyone else chose to attack the my faith and other believes...remember this one thing...there are many of us whose minds are made up...to live is Jesus Christ and to DIE is gain!
For God I live, For God I die...dont expect for me fall in line with your veiw of what a Christian is...time is too short for that!
:D

Jesus was a carpenter.
So when you or anyone else chose to attack the my faith and other believes
Im definately not attacking your faith, I am a christian, no matter how christian you may think I am.
.to live is Jesus Christ and to DIE is gain!

Rory did you not know that to save your life you have to be willing to lose it, for Christ sake...Keep reading that Bible, it gets better with each chapter.
You will realize that being Christian is not a SOUND or a DECLARATION...it is a committment, a lifestyle, a responsibility, a scarifice, it is dying daily, it is taking a stand, even if it means standing alone, it's shining in darkness and adding flavor to all those familiar tastes...
One day I hope we can talk...Rory there is so much to talk about...
Until than...give me something challenging to think about...PLEASE!
