All dat teefin aye?
And the Scotia Bank in Oakes Field is still operating under screwy pretences.

They need to do a thorough investigation, as fraud in this town is rampant.

Belive it or not, a childhood friend of mine ( I will not mention his name) was charged with I believe 354 or 384 counts of theft from the company he worked for.

This was in 2002/3. I read it in the paper and could not believe it. The Magistrate had to take a 15 or 20 min recess, and then finish read the charges, lol.

You know what's bothersome to me though, the lack of surveillance, or proper surveillance at the Govenment agencies that deal with cash.

Obviously, we Bahamians are not very honest, and I believe it would shock us if we actually know how much theft in Government is hurting us as a country.

it has been said that 6 out of 10 workers in the bahamas pilfer goods from their employers. do you think that low wages and the high cost of living has something to do with this? maybe. or are we just dishonest and corrupt?

Yeah ive seen alot of that on video from one local night club in particular.
I cant mention the particulars on this forum though, but lets just say, the owner has fired many, called the cops for many, staff, as well as * people * working the door.

I think it's mainly the fact that ppl know they have a better chance of getting away with it bcause most business take a lackadaisical attitude with the checks and balances that should be implemented by businesses. We still have alot of business owners who operate under a false sense of honor type philosophy that was what made the Bahamas the Bahamas in the years gone "past." Ya know, the days of leaving ya door open and taking ya deposit to the bank in one envelope........ stupid is as stupid does and the Bahamian populous is far more exposed to all methods of illegal activity. Banks need to be more digitized, mom n pop businesses need to advance their operational techniques and hiring ideologies. I mean most places find the procurement of a basic surveillance systems as an unneeded operating cost...... and then wonder where they went wrong after employee theft etc. For the most part we aren't totally corrupt but that is not to say that a minor percentage is not corruptible given a clear or possible impetus to get away with any crime. Facts are just the Facts I guess.

tell me about it . .. they want a $5000 system for $50 these days ...
reason I dont do any of that anymore, just consulting .. too much headache and wasted time. Ask me what you need, and Ill tell you (for free most of the time too), but dont bring any Kmart, Sams Club, or Ebay system around me, cause I dont want to know about it ;)
