You might try actually posting this thread as a poll, rather than simply prepending "Poll: " to the name.

Who will win the next General Elections in 2007?

Only God knows.
I think the question should be:
Who will make it to the next General Elections in 2007?

I say PLP all the way!!!

Although the FNM did a tremendous job with our economy thier foriegn policies
were the pitts for lots of Bahamians. Look at this big problem we are having with illegal immigrants. The FNM government gutted the Bahamas Immigration
department. They've allowed foriegners to run their own little private resorts without licenses and pochers to hoard our waters. Yes the FNM gave us more opertunities to be employed but to me I see that our choices were limmited. Its almost like going to a buffet and seeing so many dishes one would enjoy. Such as Lobsters, Shrimps, Conch, Steaks, Honey Ham etc. etc. and then being told that those dishes are accessable to Foriegn Investors only. And Bahamians can only eat fried chicken wings. You may disagree with my views for wanting the PLP to win the next election but believe me, I am not angry at you. Thats what democracy is all about. You guys vote for whoever you want. Lets just hope that whoever is voting in do a good job and make us proud.

See you guys at the polls. :bye2:

I agree with you ....but I have to be honest and admit the PLP needs to buckle up.
Depite what ever problems we are having now i will highlight that i prefer having problems in MY country than not having a country at all. Under the control of the FNM our country's main platform was foriegn investment...yes it looks good in the short run but as far as the long run is concerned do we really want to be a carbon copy of some of our neighbors...south of cuba? The fact that young American pennysavers are investing and buying islands in the Bahamas from as early as they could walk and many Bahamians dont even have suffiecient beach access...is terribly sad...an issue that was of grave pertinience while the FNM was in power. Truth be told, we dont know the blessing that we have, and sadly if Bahamians dont gear their thinking towards the LONG RUN we are in for a rude awakening. I know we may be having problems under the current government but atleast i feel rest assured that there is a better chance of upward mobility as far a me and my fellow bahamians are concerned.
Those who disagree may want to research the amount of hotel managers under the PLP before the FNM took over and the drastic decline that followed;)

WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE or should I say WAKE UP AND SMELL THE AIR, the air of change that is, all we have to do is look around us and realize that in about ten years from now the "BAHAMIAN DNA" will no longer be the same.

Like the United States of America, those who will call themselves Bahamians would have had their origins come here from elsewhere. The Bahamas will be a small America with peoples from different countries settling down here.

I think is unavoidable because for The Bahamas to remain islands unto themselves more financial resources and more "true native" Bahamians would be needed and for the amount of land development and its infrastructure to happen using only the "true native" Bahamians numbers will be impossible.

Further development will require foreign man power and foreign investment, because there are insufficient local resources.

Madam, I like this post, and it shows you are thinking. I'd like to add a few further thoughts for consideration.

Supposing the really wealthy Bahamians were to make up their minds to develop this country in a good way that would benefit the nation and its citizens, do you think there would still be that great need for foreign investments and man power? Don't you think with our native resources we can maybe develop a few more Freeports to create employment for even yet unborn Bahamians?

I could be wrong, but I believe that if the millionaires and the thrifty among us were to resolve to develop this country properly, there would not be this great need for foreign man power and investment as is now the case. I pray that we would develop the love and loyalty for our Bahamaland so as not to always be at the mercy of foreign investors, as this could lead to much contention.

And we had better find a way to limit the number of immigrants in New Providence; we are almost living like sardines now! What do you think?

interesting stuff..I am supporting the group that will really reform the way things are done, devolve power to local authorities, provide resident engineers and planners to islands that need them and channge our tax system. but most of all I am voting for the party with the fewest lawyers on their ticket!

Do you really believe that?
Do you think they care that much?
No doubt they keep an eye on us but do you think they have the time to care that much? After all they have a lot more important "irons in the fire" right now.

No, not at all, I do not think they care, no not about us...
That’s the good thing about it.
But the bad thing about, it is they care about themselves.. it is that simple
Their eyes are every where, they see everything..
And they do whatever it takes to secure themselves wherever they are...
We see no benefit in Haiti, but not the US they see everything...everywhere
Because they are always thinking about all for themselves…
Look, my point is, whoever it is that is willing to listen to the US and do what they say, whatever it is that they say will be the government… Its that simple…
It is to bad most of us do not see this… to bad...
But the ones who see like the US is the ones who will be the next or remains the government…

The US does not want the PLP in charge. The US would like to see a strong Bahamas so they can make some money. The PLP will make the Bahamas poorer which makes Florida poorer.
