I add my sympathies. The news came as a shock as I did not know she was sick. Another Bahamian icon has left us. RIP Vivica.

Laughter Is Definitely The Best Medicine

Mega Beat Productions hits the road with the debut of their adult stand up comedy shows. The purpose of the shows are to expose local talent to the Bahamian audience, with a view to eventually giving them opportunities to showcase their talents internationally.

Mega Beat Comedy Productions held two nights of fun and laughter at Club Waterloo on the 1st and 22nd of December 2004. The shows featured the hugely funny Vivica Watkins and her troupe of stand up comedians who were all hilariously funny. Vivica, who is known for her sharp wit and racy commentaries is called by many names Viv, Aunt, Mom, Tootsie, but the title that is fast becoming a household word is Mega *****.

Vivica one of the key players involved in the company has won international and local acclaim through the medium of comedy. She is well known for her role in James Catalyn and friends and has also performed internationally. She has done many local radio and television advertisements and has earned the right to be called one of Nassau's most well known comics.

John Ellis aka Nice was a little nervous preparing for the show, even though he was introduced to show biz by his grandfather, the legendary entertainer Count Bernadino. He took that nervous energy on stage which was the fuel for his very descriptive comedy act.

If you were not looking directly at the stage you would of thought the governor of California was in the room as Ron Schmalcel gave a very good impersonation of Arnold Swasanegger. Except for the well defined triceps, the bulging biceps, the seven foot frame, the washboard abs, he did look a whole lot like Arnold also. Ron, has done stand up comedy for two years in Canada, before relocating. He is tickled to death to be able to pick up his old hobby once again. He enjoys living here and pokes fun at life here The Bahamas and injects this into his act.

Comedians, in the show were also happy to have their homeboy Inigo Zenicazelaya aka Naughty, drop in to see the show. Naughty who performs at Atlantis, Paradise Island gave the show his blessings. Mega Beat Productions is in full swing, and will be bringing you the best of Bahamian talent in the field of comedy. Keep logging onto this site for details on upcoming events.

A few years ago I saw her representing at the PLPs annual fair. Everyone knows that that is not a usual sight to see. But she was there having fun, spending money and mingling with the crowd.

That's the type of person she was...
Everyone knew where her support lied but that did not stop her from supporting the other side.

I know that she would be missed by everyone. We all could learn alot from her. May her soul rest in peace........

She showed me.........My sympathy goes out to her family and friends!!

Viveca Watkins and I grew up in Chippingham together. She is the daughter of Errington and Pearl Watkins. she has many sisters and I think two brothers.

A devote Catholic she grew up in St. Joseph church where the entire neighborhood children had to attend 7.00 a.m. mass with Father Marcian Peters.

Vanessa, Poincetta Madronna, Monty Errington Jr. and the others all attended those morning masses and if it was lent we went back to evening service.

In January of this year I invited her to share her humour with my senior citizens in The Kenp Road Urban Renewal Seniors Meeting. Of course since I was like a younger sister to her she came and had the entire group in stitches and tears.

It was then that she shared her passion for a violence free Bahamas and had promised to assist us as much as she can even though she was not in our Urban Area.

Her son was the apple of her eyes. with his rich voice serenading at weddings and funerals he was making a name for himself in the art world.

She will be missed for her sensible advice and keen insight.

To her parents son and brothers and sisters..........What can I say.???.......she is gone too soon.

May God grant her eternal rest and may His love and strength be your comfort during the time ahead.

My Condolences and Love to you all.

To Fatback and the staff of More 94 FM Stay strong and be encouraged.

Wow, we have lost so many cultural and artisitic giants in the past year. First Kayla Lockhart Edwards, then Winston Saunders, then Calvin Lockhart, and now Vivica Watkins. I hope that we can find people enthusiastic about Bahamian art and culture to continue on with what these people were doing.

This truly is a great loss. I have a number of fond memories of her, including a crazy Christmas party that seared a few images in to my head. What a woman.
