The Bahamas is well-known for its free and fair elections which often occur without violence, but two "shocking and senseless" acts on Wednesday, coupled with reports of vandalism, have forced Prime Minister Perry Christie to firmly deplore the use of violence and the destruction of property as instruments of political campaigning.
"Such behavior is wrong and indefensible, even where there is provocation. I cannot condemn it strongly enough," said Prime Minister Christie in a statement issued to the press yesterday.

When you have a PM that refers to his political opponents as "the enemy" and talks that to hot headed people, who act first and think only after conviction....what do you expect?

Dat even if there is provication phrase struck me wrong to.
Violence is outright wrong. He should have left it at that. But by saying 'even if provoked' it sounds like he saying....Dem dam people dose push us to far sometimes, I could understand why dey do dat to dem but I cant condone it.
For him to say it was provoked, yet say he is against the act .. makes no sense.
He needs to check his speech writers .. what they drinking these days?

True! We are electing leaders who will do, among other things, keep law and order. If they can't do it with their own supporters how they going to do it later?

My thoughts exactly! Its the same as the evening he went on the air when Shane resigned. Instead of acting like the Prime Minister, he went into political mode. Blaming someone else! PC reminds me of a child. He can always blame someone else or say something that translates to "well lil Johnny did that too! ". Always blameless! Or is that Shameless?

See this is how they opperate. They can NEVER contribute to their own downfall or faults. Everyone else is evil. Everyone else is the enemy. Everyone else wants to destroy them. Their campaing of irrisonsibility and fear is comming to an end.
