Idea from another thread...
When we ga have a National Sex Offenders Register?
What is the hold up?
We know who the offenders are why we cant name and shame them?
Which party promising to put one in place?
Now I aint talking too much bout the cases of unlawful sexual intercourse where the Child is fifteen and the parents put the man in court cause he aint free up no money this week.....although this too is a problem.
Im more concerned bout knowing where and avoiding the persons who sexually assault and molest the kids under that age. The ones who forceable grab a woman and force themselves on her. The ones who break into little ol ladies houses to rob and berate them.
I think there should be an offenders register and we should have different classes for the offenders, depending on the circumstances of the case.
Class A Offender...those who rape and molest outright and
Class B Offender...those who commit unlawful sexual intercourse with a willing participant over an extended period who is 14-16 years old. (this would not include incest)
Any comments?

This the Bahamas. Anything that would require a database will be overdue. Then they will overpay some foreign firm to do it anyway.

thats exactly what we need in this country. but more than that we need to cane their backsides as well. if carried out swiftly without interference of human rights groups it will be a real deterrent.

well ya know this is issue number three on
"THE TOP TEN ISSUES EVERY BAHAMIAN WOMAN SHOULD CONSIDER BEFORE THE NEXT ELECTION"
then every employer (cause everyone has to pay national insurance)
should have to refer to the list when hiring...
so any service that involves children...or where children are present should not be allowed to hire people on the list....
from the hospital, schools, extra-curricular activities...jitney drivers...
lets get serious about protecting our women and children....

Das a wibe......if we could get someone who does do IT to create the data base and then we scour the papers for those who are CONVICTED (not charged) and add their names and last address (if reported) and perhaps we could get this thing started on our own.
Im thinking that if it in the papers then it is public knowledge and there should be no invasion of privacy problems if we post the same thing in the paper on the web.
Calling the IT people Any takers....

convictions are a matter of public record...
we can find them and list them...and the nature of the crime so everyone won't be painted by the same brush

Yes we do need a sex-offender register. I do not see why this should be a problem, other than ligistically.
