My dear brother Delroy,
Some people can claim that life is unfair because some people are poor and some people are filthy rich. Personally I can claim that I don't get a fair treatment whenever I post anything on bahamasissues website. So my friend let me remind you that the world is round,So everybody will have their chance to claim fairness or unfairness.
As for the security at B.E.C, as sensitive as electricity is, security ought to have been there before the dispute started in the first place. With respect to the tourist, they are human being just like you and me, who have experience power failure many times in their own country, so they understand. With regards to those business persons who may have lost a few pounds of meat during the power failure, I say replace the meat and move on, that's business, some times you win some times you loose;and that is not the end of the world.
Perhaps this is an unfair world, looking at it from your view, but who am I or you to judge that.

How is this Sir?

As for the security at B.E.C, as sensitive as electricity is, security ought to have been there before the dispute started in the first place.
Security was there in the form of a Locked Gate and a High Fence.
Now anyone who wants to cross those barriers deserves whatever they get and is breaking the law.

With respect to the tourist, they are human being just like you and me, who have experience power failure many times in their own country, so they understand.
I agree! Unintentional Power failure; Yes!
But when it is deliberate there is cause for concern for everyone affected.

With regards to those business persons who may have lost a few pounds of meet during the power failure, I say replace the meet and move on, that's business, some times you win some times you loose;and that is not the end of the world.
Easier said than done. I know of some business owners who haven't recovered yet from "Black Thursday" of last year. What do you think this string of outages are doing to them?

Perhaps this is an unfair world, looking at it from your view, but who am I or you to judge that.
Where in my statements did I judge anyone?
I have no idea who is responsible for these power outages.

"With regards to those business persons who may have lost a few pounds of meet during the power failure, I say replace the meet and move on"

Do you mean "meat"? I think this is what you mean.

What if you have no more meat?

The existing reality in our Bahamas today is that it is very hard to run a business because of so many factors outside of the business persons' genuine effort to make it succeed.

For our retail business offering internet and computer service as well as souvenirs in downtown what "blackouts" mean is a loss not only of revenue but a great dent in the quality of service being offered to our clientele who for the most part are visitors.

We see the surprise and disappointment every time on the faces of those visitors, and no matter how many millions of our tax payers dollars are spent promoting the Bahamas abroad, they are wasted after these visitors go back home and relay by word of mouth the poor impression they take back with them about The Bahamas.

I have to laugh when I hear politicians talk about our islands as if we have made it to being part of the "first world" sorry.......we're still in the third; all we have to do is travel to other countries to see that......

The previous time BEC gave us an island wide "blackout" we lost thousands of dollars worth in computer equipment, lost revenue at our business, at home we and others I know lost appliances, air condition units, electronics, and claiming for damages made no difference, because claims were not paid.

The owner of a residence I manage, lost brand new equipment he had just bought with the residence, extensive wiring damage was made to his newly bought home because when BEC restored power it came back with such a surge that FRIED a great deal of the wiring that provided the electricity to the entire property, inside and outside. The BEC engineers worked around the clock until power was recovered but to this day, a lot of the outlets in this home do not work.

To add insult to injury; my client put in a claim to BEC but to this day BEC has not paid my client.

You can say, "replace the meat and move on".......sure, we move on, because what other choice do we have?

As citizens and tax payers the only time we MAY have a say, is during ELECTION TIME but after that politicians do whatever they want or WHATEVER THEY DON'T WANT TO DO.

If these politicians were to ask us about making it a CRIME for the unions to hold us hostage because of their demands; I would definitely vote YES YES YES.

If unions go uncheck and without accountability they will try their best to hold our country hostage! time and time again, and the politicians will continue to do only that which is in their political interest......

has anyone else noticed there has been a black out almost everynight since the blackout the other day?! At least in my area on eastern road.

If the unions are or were responsible for any blackouts in this country, they should be chained and dragged to fox hill prison as terrorists!
