View Full Version : End of The World?
BahamaWave 04-24-07, - 11:06 AM "The Maya believed that their world would end on Dec 21, 2012. Of all the dates put forth by prophets and cultures for a doomsday, this is one with an authentic almost eerie feel to it. But what will happen? A global cataclysm is one possibility."

"NASA Claims Polar Shift Due In 2012
Solar System - Did you notice? In February 2001, the Sun did a magnetic polar shift. The next one is due again in 2012."

I've heard of the mayan calender ending in 2012. were they on to something?
Now NASA confirms a big polar shift in 2012.

I'll let you know on Dec 22nd 2012 lol!:)
But seriously, religions are full of prophecies about the end of the world. Why do we wish that our world would end? It seems unhealthy to me - this earth out of which we came, that feeds us and then we return to it in dead - we hope it will end???:dgi:
i-omega 04-24-07, - 11:15 AM so...on Dec.20th 2012 what will you be doin????

well I wouldn't say that we 'wish' the world would end but nothing lasts forever.
even the sun will loose it's light/energy someday and burnout.

Many million years to worry about that!

do you feel lucky???
BahamaWave 04-24-07, - 11:28 AM Many million years to worry about that!
yes of course, but the earth may die naturally long before that.
i-omega 04-24-07, - 11:49 AM yes of course, but the earth may die naturally long before that.
if earth is 2 die naturally then wouldn't the sun die first???
yes of course, but the earth may die naturally long before that.
Not likely. It may change so that it is no longer hospitable to human life, but the earth will go on - without us.

not necessarily. there may be cataclysmic flooding or drying up of the earth's waters, the air may become too polluted to sustain life including trees, the actual make up of the atmosphere may change and we loose oxygen or we may get hit by a huge asteroid that throws up an earth-covering cloud of dust that blocks out the sunlight.
studies claim that Mars was once a flourishing planet like the earth, but now it is cold and dead.
AnarchyIsOrder 04-24-07, - 12:08 PM Ah well, if it ends, it ends.
The most likely "end of the world" scenario in my opinion is nuclear war, in fact we actually came inches close from this during the Cuban missile crisis.
And the current policy of imperialist nations (US mainly but Russia and UK also, as well as Israel) are simply accelerating this possibility.
A good book on the subject is Noam Chomsky's "Hegemony or Survival", i'm almost through reading it now.

with all things bein possible, you have some very big if's that are highly unlikely,if the world was 2 end it would be in direct proportion with the death of the sun,my stance is supported by common science and biblical scripture,Matthew 24 verse 29.
