Why is it that people in Nassau just dont realise how dangerous and unhealthy it is to burn bush in their yards!?? I just dont see how people can be so dumb. And this is even on Eastern Rd, not just in the so called Ghetto areas. Im getting tired of calling the fire department evey time some moron lights a fire in their back yard! But I will continue to do so especially when I have to leave my appartment because of choking smoke and that sickening smell of burning bush, in the hopeful even that the fire dept will arrest them as they should, due to the plain simple fact that it is ILLEGAL to start a fire unless it is being conducted by a trained fire control person such as a fireman, with a fire contro device on hand such as a fire truck or hose or extinguisher.

DON'T LIGHT FIRES, as I will call the cops! And if I see the people lighting it, they will get a peice of my mind also!

they need to move it far far out west, or on a small island just off nassau, along with the prisons, schools etc which just cause this to be the most congested little city ive ever seen!

I think that this has something to do with the Bahamian culture.
I grew up on the island of Andros and burning bush was common. But I think that there is a big difference between burning bush and burning trash (especially chemicals). Burning those blech bottles and other plastics should be illegal.

We can prevent this by placing a park over it or maybe a garden (I know you like to grow things CG).

burning anything without professional supervision is against the law, and they actually normally do enforce it here in the Bahamas, but people just keep doing it. Ive called the fire dept many times and watched them arrest the people burning it, and even put out some fires myself, but unfortunately normally they end up arresting the gardener who was only told to do it by the cheap owner who wont pay for a truck to come and pick it up! Its about as common and accepted as running a red light is, or not using a turning signal, all of which can have deadly conscequences on other people other than the person perpetrating it.

Like i said, Id like to get my hands on someone burning bush that smokes out my home! Unfortunately its often hard to tell where they are coming from, and plus physical violence is illegal!

This fire tonight, I had to go to the side of the main eastern road to catch some fresh air!!!
