View Full Version : Best prepaid phone for USA
Mulder 04-24-07, - 10:01 PM For those of you who frequently visit the US, which prepaid phone would you recommend. I've had two Tracfone phones, but the last one I got wouldn't let me call the Bahamas and I've heard they don't like Bahamians for some reason:dgi:

Mulder 04-25-07, - 04:47 PM I'm talking about something to use while over there on short trips, like a few days. I have a BTC gsm phone but it is prepaid and as far as I know, they don't work in the US.
the Skype phone is a wifi phone, so it will work wherever there is a hotspot (not locked). Also, there is a network called "Boingo" which has some 10,000 in the UK and 7,000 in the US (its still new), which gives you a list of hotspots. With skype you can call the bahamas for 10 cents a minute, UK for 2 cents a minute, from anywhere in the world, and call other skype users for free, as well a have incoming calls setup to a number in the country of your choice.
Just a thought ;)

Mulder 04-25-07, - 07:38 PM It looks interesting, I'll check it out, thanks.

Yep, also, I hate talking about a company (skype) that has nothing to do with us and this side of the globe, though it works good, so hopefully sometime in the future Vibe may make it on a wifi phone also .. then they can also take part in the boingo service for their clients .. :)
