That said, be assured that senior civil servants hold the keys to the kingdom in The Bahamas as their counterparts do in most democracies. That's why I totally support the notion and practice of senior directors and permanent secretaries resigning once there is a change in government.
'Cause dem SOB's would sabotage your bongy erry-time!

That's how they do it in the States. With the new administration many in the civil service get sweeped out.
At-will employment. That's how the civil service needs to be.

I thought the permanent secretaries were the boss
and permanent means permanent despite who wins...

right now, its hard to find Bahamian judges because the pay isn't good...
now you suggesting that we make the basic civil servant job as being less appealing...any minute now...we will have to hire foreign permanent secretaries...when will it stop.

Man 'Yinna need to recognize, in every government ministry it is the Minister who sets the policy...the Permanent Secretary administrates the policy and the Director interprets and executes the policies.
How would you like to be a new minister entering a ministry with a hostile PS and Director, not to mention their surly minions...they should leave - that's how it's done in the private sector following mergers, acquisitions and buy outs...just ask CIBC and Barclay's Bank (Now First Caribbean) employees; Hotel/Resort management, etc...
At the very least it should be at the discretion of the Minister!

and I maintain and restate...
fire them and put them where...
just send them home...no package...
Personally, I don't believe ministers need to micromanage any ministry...leave that to the permanent secretary...I can imagine...the govenment change and they fire the directors at the AG office and the permanent secretary...where you ga find one to replace them...Besides such positions should not be politically appointed.

With little effort you are supporting my point exactly....Ministers DO NOT micro-manage...
Please be careful to read my previous post and understand...PS is responsible for administrating the policies, Directors implement the policies.....if they are jaded, vex and malicious appointees of the previous regime they should resign - that's how it is done in all transparent democracies!
