I just completed a course in audio visual production. We used Final cut Pro but that is used with Macs only. It is great and enables you to capture audio and video separately. There is a PC editing program but I heard that it is not as good as Final Cut Pro. Ckeck out Utah Taylor from controversy tv because he is one of the best editors in Nassau, so I heard.

thanks alot....was just a home project i was doin....have a video and i want the song from the video burned to cd...
For most regular users, Windows Movie Maker, comes with XP.
For others, there are many, VirtualDubMod, Nandub, Video Edit Magic, Sony Vegas, etc etc etc ..
garnelleo 04-25-07, - 01:56 PM For a beginner I would suggest Movie Maker as it came with Windows since Windows Me.

try downloading windows media encoder. i think it allows you to separate the audio & video.

For your audio stuff try www.polderbits.com I have been using their program for years. It is easy to use and works well. It have copied cassettes to my computer with this product - of course you will have to get cables to connect you cassette player to the computer but they are not hard to find.
You can also use their recorder to record any audio from the net.
For video editing try VideoReDo Plus. (Sorry I don't have an address) Easy to use and does a very good job.
BahamaWave 04-26-07, - 12:47 AM VideoReDo Plus is an MPEG editor. youtube only accepts .avi
I also say just use Windows MovieMaker for Windows. go to start>all programs>accessories>windows moviemaker.

True, but most movies are in MPEG unless they are from ones video camera. What do you do if your movies are already in MPEG? is there a converter on the market that can convert them to AVI? I have tried a few and hated them all!!!!

Did you do the course in Nassau?
I would love to learn something like that.

I think COB also does a course in that. In the Fblock they got a room fulled of G5s.
justaguy 04-26-07, - 11:57 AM Gonna go the Mac route here....
For most 'general' work, iMovie, which comes free with every Mac will do 99% of editing for you. Full non linear editing, hundreds of effects and transitions, and export to all major non-prorietary formats (MPG, DIVX, MPEG4, DV Stream, etc)
For $29 you can add on Flip4Mac studio, which gives you export to Microsoft's proprietary WMV format.
If you want to go pro, then the next step is Final Cut Express - a pro level app for the individual/smaller company.
If you're really serious, head to Final Cut Pro - editing, CGI, audio and effect suite used by most major film and tv studios.
And no... pound for pound, feature for feature, Macs aren't more expensive than PC's.
Enjoy.
