There is this myth that as a registered of age human being in a democracy that you have to vote. Or that it is your sworn duty to vote.

This is utterly outrageous, and do not let some sweet talking goon, talk you into voting for him because you feel obligated to vote. In the Bahamas it is your right to vote for any party or anyone. But it is also your God given right in the Bahamas to NOT vote, if you do not want to.

I think it is fair to say that both parties have put us in a very difficult position. They have placed before us dumb and crooked. I personally think that both sides could have done just a shade better. However, I still maintain that you should vote against the persons who you would LEAST want to get in office. But, if they are ALL scum bags, and not worth you even skipping your third lunch, then by all means let the bottom feeders scrape to the bottom for the last dregs. Because, as virtuous as it is to vote in any event, presented with equally horrible representation can put you in a position of "whatever". I think you should think about that and then allow the hardcore jokers to sole that race on their own. Even moreso, it is "ok" to not like anyone who is running for office in your area. That is perfectly fine. With that, it is "ok" to still participate in our democracy, but not vote because in a democracy you have the right to vote or not to vote, but that does not exclude you from the ability to make a difference.

I say again, not voting is not punishable by death. I know of many people who just work the polls, and do not even bother to vote. They participate, but stay far away from voting for equally shaded horrible representation. Let the "best man" win, but let it be without you if you are stuck between horrible and gawd awful.

You're right. It just that NOT voting FNM is punishable by more scandalous and debasing governance under the PLP.

And some can say that voting for the FNM is punishable by more money wasted, more stupid rash descisions with futures ruined and on top of all of that more scandals from different people.

This is what they tell me.
