View Full Version : 1/3 Of the House of Assembly up for re-election every 2 years?

It seems the government and MP's, no matter which party, pays the most attention to the Bahamian people come election time. 5 years is a long time to wait.

What if House was divided in thirds and 1/3 of the Assembly came up for re-election every two years? Do you think we might get more done? Do you think the voice of the people would matter more, since the balance of power could theoretically shift even with a 1/3 Assembly reshuffle.

(Of course I understand it would take an Constitutional Amendment. I am just throwing out a hypothetical.)

Sounds like a good idea but I doubt it can work with our system. Besides, do you want to go through this election madness more often?? :) It takes us about a year to calm down from the five year thing!
