Well, as you probably can tell, I'm new to the site and I'm interested in seeing what the site has to offer. According to my name, you can tell that I am from Nassau :shaky: , and I work in the Financial Industry @ one of our major banking institutions. I'm glad to see that there are decent Bahamian sites like this one and I look forward to taking part in it.

A big shout out to all the members of bahamas issues. I am new as you can see and I am 18 years old. I have already started posting threads and replying to some of the exisiting ones. I am really impress with some of the comments I have read. The Bahamas truly has some intelligent minds out there. It is my hope that forums like these become a norm in Bahamian society, becuase the more we expose our young people to issues pertinent to our country, the more we ensure the future of our beautiful country. The fact that we are able to post and express our opinions so openly is proof of our maturity and our strong democracy. God has blessed us immensely, with intelligence and from all signs it is evident that Bahamians are putting that intelligence to great use.

Hi there and being that I am not legally a bahamian (only in heart)and don't presently reside there doesn't mean that I am not concerned with what is going on with the Beloved Bahamas. I for one am concerned on the agriculture of the bahamas and how the government is assisting the locals in their quest to become more productive in it. I have read several articles in the bahama news media plus anything dealing with the Dept of Ministry of Agriculture. The price of produce/foods for bahamians is high due to all the importations that have to be done due to not having enough farmers/workers available to work the ground and not only feed the country but the tourist industry. It is my concern that many don't see that by not using what available resources you have to grow vegetables/fruits&nut trees that you are not going to ever bring down the cost to yourselves. Maybe I am wrong..but from what I have heard and seen so far, I am not. What are your views on this? I know that if I had a yard I would be using every pot hole and piece of it to plant all that I could there. I for one don't like having to pay high prices for food... especially when I hear that you almost have to pay $10/quart of pigeon peas when they are out of season!!! They are so easy to grow and I know that they don't take up that much space! I love Bahamas and the Bahamian people.. as I said.. may not be from there but I have surrendered my heart to it!
