Delroy,

You posted something about fake emails. I just received a similar one in my Bahamas Writer email.

Is it a real threat? Should I be doing anything about it, like notifying all my subscribers to the Bahamas Writer forums?

I think you should Fay.
This virus program is spreading over the internet very quickly and is duplicating itself.

I am a few steps away from doing that myself.
This seems to be an attack by bots on domain addresses by creating random email address from other sites.

I hope that a solution is found soon for this problem.

I didn't receive any from Bahamas Issues though. Isn't this just a ruse to get us all working overtime?!

what fake emails??

I know about the virus that is going around:

beagle worm virus
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.beagle@mm.removal.tool.html

it looks like a regular email from someone you know, who has you in their address book, and it is a zip file, so some people may trust it, Included in the zip file is a screen saver file that, which when you click on it, well installs a couple files on your computer that runs attacks from your computer to others over the internet, andit spreads using your address book.

Worth looking at to make sure you dont have it, just look in c:\windows\system folder, and rightclick, arrange by date, goto the far right (end of the folder files) and see if there are any strange named files there, such as 'i1ru54n4.exe'. If that is there you have the virus, get it quick!! Use that link above.

ok, you dont have it unless you unzipped the file, and installed the screen saver, I actually got suckered into it as it came from someone I know!! Then as the screen saver did not run, I searched google for the name the email subject was, and found it was a new virus!!

basically every virus email has something like this in it:

password for archive:

As you have to use the password to unzip it, its messed up, its getting us people thinking that a virus wont send like this as it takes too much work for it to get installed, but then they are getting people who havent heard of it yet, like i was!!

It uses your computer to attack web sites and slows down everything on your computer!

Anyway, Nortons removal tool kills the running program (which you cant do manually) and gets rid of it.
