View Full Version : Prove the Bible is the word of the Creator
Vicky 11-24-04, - 04:38 PM Ok, cool......I'm just saying WHY some people will contest that the bible is the word of the creator....I already stated in my first response that i don't think it can be proven either way, that it is or it isn't. Let's just make that clear. I think it is all on a basis of faith, I'm just saying why I think some believe that the age of the bible means that it is true......cool?...cool,...
Now here is the question
Should someone or groups faith be used to create laws? Laws that make people that don't follow the someone or groups faith less equal???
Ex. the Taliban. When they were in power you could be a Christian. But you could not have a church or even speak about Christianity to others. Another words don't hate the Christian but hate Christianity. (Sound familiar)
You cannot prove that the Bible is the word of God. You got to have faith that it is. Just as with the Quran, you have to have faith that it is. Just as with the Torah, you have to have faith that it is.
I believe that mankind should study every religion that has sprung up over time. You shouldn't ask anyone to prove anything, unless you are ready to prove yourself. Can you prove whatever you believe is right?
Man is an ignorant being. This, however, is not a bad thing if you continue to learn. This is what we do, from the time you are born until the time you die. You learn.

I understand where you are going with this Vicky, you're implying the relation to the statement some make that they hate homosexuality, not homosexuals. :)
But I don't know what state some countries would be in if laws weren't made based on faith. I mean what would we create laws based on? If we say equal rights for all, and freedom of speech, and whatever else you wanna throw in the legal pot, what would these ideas be based on? Is it the good of all people, or peace, or because we should all love each other?
There are some lunatics in the world who just don't care about anything, nor anyone for that manner, and suppose they are placed in the position to create certain laws? I wonder what kind of laws they would make....
Now mind you, some countries are really having it rough because their laws were based on faith, but does that mean that their faith is to blame? I am not really sure. But the thing I believe is that if a person, or even a large majority of persons in a country follow a certain faith, that is the spiritual "law" that person follows, but they must remember that they are not the only ones in the country; that there are other faiths that other people follow as "law". SO when making laws, they should be universal towards as much faiths as possible, WHEREEVER possible. Now this can be tricky because some faiths allow certain things that others don't. Like having more than one wife.
Now imagine the Bahamas allowing people who follow those types of faith that allow numerous marriages, to have more than one spouse.......can you picture it? Almost everyone would revert to that religion mussy LOL!
But I hope you understand my point, some laws would be hard to create if there wasn't a spiritual basis for it I think. And most faiths teach unconditional love for others and is the first instruction on how to live with your fellow people.
Tricky question Vicky, very very tricky, cuz I don't know how lawmakers would do it.....what do you think?

I don't see marriage as 1 man and 1 women working very well either. Just look at the divorce rate. It should be about what works for the people involved. (please note I said people not animals as preachers use to create fear. When an animal is able to understand and speak its mind then maybe yes inter species unions)

Based on faith and equality to all but not the belief to be law. Now if your faith.

animals will never learn to speak AND understand. evolution is a great big hoax.
do you also think, that if 2 people can't get along married, that 3 or more will will decrease the divorce rate?
i know you like Jesus' words, and he said the only thing that makes a divorce valid is adultery.
that means if you have marital problems, tuff, deal with it.
but the law has provided many reasons that allow divorce.

My marriage if just fine.
but the law has provided many reasons that allow divorce.
And you are not trying to prevent this kind of adultery. You are not speaking out against people who marry that were divorced for a reason other than adultery. Yet you want to prevent same sex unions.
I have 1 word for you "Hypocrite" And you know what Christ thinks of "Hypocrites" You obviously don't think you have a spec in your eye and I have a log in mine.
bsmbahamas 11-26-04, - 02:50 PM i wasn't talking about your marriage vicky. :D
the law is already made that allows these people to divorce for a hundred reasons - trying to change them now is like trying to get them to allow same sex marriage.
can you imagine the opposition?
preventing yet another marriage convenience, same sex this time, will prevent even more divorce laws - the same sex reasons for divorce, that will inevitably come about next.
our laws are going backwards. instead of getting stronger they are being diluted by every little group that comes along whining that the laws are not fair.
if every group can change the law, soon there will be no need for law at all.
amazing the 10 commandments are still basically the same.
lol

That is so true and discrimanation sould still be allowed as it was. And the only Black that were allowed in the Savoy Theater were the ones behind the counter and the ones to clean the toilet. Right??????????????????????????????
if every group can change the law, soon there will be no need for law at all.
Maybe by then we will have learned the way Christ teaches a way that we treat all as equal human beings.
amazing the 10 commandments are still basically the same. lol
It is amazing. What referance do the 10 commandments have about homosexuality.
bsmbahamas 11-30-04, - 08:24 PM marriage is between a man and a woman, and the only reason given for separation is adultery or death.
christians can't make the laws or dilute them, the law makers do that.
we only try to keep the lawmakers from making everything ungodly legal.
christianity is not about equality it is about loving one another, following God's words and spreading the gospel.
the law will do as they please, we only try to influence their laws according to God's will for man.
unfortunately the law is for christians and non-christians, so christians will always be opposed by non-beleivers who want their own way over God's way.
I am through aguing with you about homosexuality until you can show me where God's words says it is OK for homosexuality and homosexual unions.
you obviously don't want to follow God's law with regard to homosexuality and are willing to teach that it should be accepted - even though you are married with kids.
I am all for equality but not when it is contrary to God's word. I can accomplish more by praying and talking with the homosexuals that actually want to change their way of life to be inline with God's will.

I new you would soon say this as most of the of the Christians before you. You can't handel when the truth is told from a different prospective. You/they back off when someone can point out to you (using your Bible), that you view of homosexuality is wrong according the word of the Teacher you claim to follow.

Rizzo 12-01-04, - 04:01 PM This is funny...because Vicky don't you say you follow the "words" of Jesus Christ? WHere do you get your "words" from? Don't you read Jeses' "words" that are in the bible? So these are also the "words" of Jesus Christ...the Teacher YOU choose to follow.
You have your interpretation of Christ's "words"....and he has his own interpretations.....he thinks he is right, and you think you are right.....so tell me...who is wrong? :cop: ....in your eyes...he is wrong...and in his eyes....you are wrong.....
So in this light BSMBAHAMAS has proven to you that you are wrong as well, in regards to Jesus Christ's teachings on homosexuality, because he has found you wrong by what HE believes.
So this back and forth thing needs to stop now....because it will never be resolved.....because the 2 of you are passionate and staunch with your beliefs. :hammer: :hammer:

After re reading what you have here are trying to say that the Bible are the words of Christ??? If you are you are very wrong. The Old Testament are not the words of Christ. All the writings of Paul are not the words of Christ. In all the Bible you can find the words of Christ in Matthew Mark Luke and John. But there are other teachings of Christ. The Gnostic Gospels. There is more to this than the Pagan sacntioned book called the Bible.

Once again Vicky...missing the point...and not answering the questions...
I said that BSM said you were wrong based of HIS understanding of Christ's teachings.....
and I never said the bible is the word of Christ....but there are teachings from Christ...and about Christ in it.....
and if the bible is pagan....how can you follow the teachings of Christ from a pagan book? Oh yeah that's right....you didn't answer my question of whether or not you read CHrist's teachings from the bible....you have your own collection of CHrist's teachings....and don't use the teachings in the bible at all right? :shhh: :)
(I only know a bit about the Gnostic Gospels and that it gears toward a more spiritual enlightenment of people(writers) regarding the times of Jesus, and how they believed they had a more spiritual understanding of Jesus and his divinity....but I do know that some of the gnostic writers beleived that there wasn't only one creator....and that Jesus wasn't the only son of God....I'll try to get my hands on some of the literature...seeing that there are so many gnostic writings....but I'm sure you will agree that some of the gnostic fundamentals found their way into the bible.....but still whether you choose to believe the gnostic bibles or not...it was still written by people ...and those writings would have been translated over and over again...just as the bible was )...anyways...I'll wait for your response...and try to respond to as much as you can
