View Full Version : Prove the Bible is the word of the Creator Vicky 03-20-04, - 12:19 PM Hi all this is one that I feel is a very good question. All religions are call faiths. Believers follow faith, not fact. It is a mistake to call faith, fact, or fact, faith. One believes what one believes by faith and faith alone and one should never force faith on another, as if it was fact. There is the big mistake that most Christians (and others) have yet to learn. Their Holy Books are faith instruments that speak to the heart of a believer - not the mind where facts reside. Joe Baboon 03-20-04, - 05:59 PM Hi all this is one that I feel is a very good question. I hear (so call them selves) Christians say this all the time “The Bible is the word of God”. I say ok Prove it. Sorry, can't help you prove it, but this Top 10 list is pretty darned funny. Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian 10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours. 9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt. 8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God. 7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees! 6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky. 5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old. 4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving." 3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity. 2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God. 1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian. For those who believe, no proof is necessary. brilandgurl 04-16-04, - 06:41 PM BIBLE IS B-BASIC I-INSTRUCTIONS B-BEFORE L-LEAVING E-EARTH so to prove tha bible you must live by it.... Joe Baboon 04-17-04, - 12:23 AM BIBLE IS B-BASIC I-INSTRUCTIONS B-BEFORE L-LEAVING E-EARTH so to prove tha bible you must live by it.... Circular Logic at its greatest. Vicky 04-17-04, - 07:06 AM No one has proven a thing except faith. I say come up with eveidance proof. brilandgurl 04-17-04, - 04:33 PM proven that the bible is the word of the Creator is totally impossible because it as been written by so many different authors who has taken the words from the beginning of time and change it around in many different languages and has add and subtract from the original version. that's why is said that you must live by faith and not by sight... Vicky 04-17-04, - 07:02 PM proven that the bible is the word of the Creator is totally impossible because it as been written by so many different authors who has taken the words from the beginning of time and change it around in many different languages and has add and subtract from the original version. that's why is said that you must live by faith and not by sight... Thinking about what you just said should your faith or my faith or anyone else faith be the law of the land. There are Muslims should their faith be the law of the land how about the Rasta’s or the Buddhist what about their faith. brilandgurl 04-18-04, - 08:36 PM i don't think that their laws should be the laws of the land simply because the laws of the land had already been set for us to abide by which are the ten commandments. that is why there is so much coruption because every religion as there own belief and live by their own laws. and being specific one of the ten commandments does say that "thou shalt not have any other gods before me." and don't those religious faith worship other gods. It could be said that all religions worship the same God. They just have different names for him. There is no doubt, among serious theologians, that the God of the Christian, Jew, and Moslem are in fact the same God. They all use the Bible, in part or whole in their faiths. So they cannot be accused of violating "thou shalt not have any other gods before me." because it is the same God! What a shame that they kill each other - in God's name. Mankind has been around for a long time. Religions come, they blossom, flower, then die out. Sometimes new ones spring from the old, like Christianity from Judaism, or Buddhism from Hinduism Or new religions seem to spring out of nowhere! Religions, come and go - but God remains. We have corruption not because every religion as their own beliefs, because the caution against such things is common to all faiths. We have corruption because people don't live their beliefs. If we lived our religion, no matter what that might be, the world would be a better place. Well put CG Also how about the Native American Indian they call the Creator, Great spirit. Hi Brilandgurl where is the law of the land that states "thou shalt not covet thy neighbors wife." Wo is me shame and scandal in the family. CG 04-19-04, - 07:32 AM ...Also how about the Native American Indian they call the Creator, Great spirit. Yes, they would say, "He, that you call Jehovah, we call The Great Spirit." The technical term for that kind of thinking is syncretism - a major blasphemy for many Christian groups, because they think they are unique, the only game around and God begins and ends with them. Yet for the majority of the world's religions syncretism just is!. |
