I write this because I am sick of the lies that Perry and the PLP try and get the Bahamian people to belive. Perry now wants us to belive him when he says that the FNM played the race card. The only race card played by the FNM was one of harmony and unity. Now lets set the record strait for cool PC. Your party was and is a divisive force in the Bahamas when it comes to race. Your party has demonised the white man time after time. You have used people's emotions to your partys benefit and the detriment of the Bahamas in every election since 1967. Your cohort Fred Mitchell and his website are an embarrassment to the Bahamas and serve no purpose but to divide the Bahamian people. You will not let the past be just that, the past. We all know that injustice was done but my brother there is nothing we can do about that today except to acknowledge the fact and make sure it never happens again. There is no going back and changing history, it is done, past, and out of our hands.
I would suggest that from now on politrickan's think along the lines of BAHAMIAN. It is no longer acceptable for any person to think that because one is white/black/polkadotted they stand for any particular mindset/agenda, that is no longer the reality of the Bahamas. We want to be one people, why can't the politrickan's help us achieve that goal?

Today - 08:48 AM

I know the FNM won, i voted for them. There is a very valid reason i have brought this up. Perry is in todays tribune trying to say it was the FNM that stirred up all of the racial cud. I am simply pointing out how twisted the mans thought process is. Y2 i have asked you a pointed question a couple times now and just like a politrickan you have not answered. DID YOU VOTE? Simple yes or no will sufice.

Lol @ divide the Bahamian people.Wonder what Bahamas buddy been living in?

What Bahamas do you live in? Almost all the people i know judge one another on there individual merits, i.e. intelligence, outlook on life, and ethics. If you are unable to do that and only look at the color of ones skin you are a mental midget. There is no place in todays society for such stunted thinking.

i don't think you even know what the race card is...
you can't think that ignoring race will make everything better....

Fred never called Brent a racist...he called him an old UBP....there is a difference...
blacks supported the UBP also...

Fred was saying that old UBP principles would manifest as class/economic oppression of the masses....

to presume Fred's comments were only about race....IS RACIST....
but you're not old enough to engage in this discourse just yet...

So when Christie jumps and says race was used against the PLP, he means it and I know exactly how he means it.
:hammer:

FNM PR people "covered" Symonette in a shroud of reverse racism. Any mention of Symonette, whether or not if it was true or not, was going to be seen as racist because the FNM PR machine was going to make it racist.

They excacerbated the race issue, as everyone knows full well that Bra Roberts was once a UBP. To say Brent went back to UBPism was nothing to do about race, until the FNM scandal mongers used it as a reverse racism trick.

And I blame the dim-wits at the PLP strategy office, for not comming on air and straightening that out in full.

Bpride- you have no idea who, how old, or what my thoughts are on race. You are so quick with your reply's that you do not touroghly read a persons post's. Reread my origanal post and tell me where i ever insinuated that this was somthing to be ignored? Not so my friend.
Fred's asertion that a minority could force those arcane princaples upon a liberated people is insane. Wealth is all over the place in the Bahamas today and that could never happen today. When you open your eyes and see that there are just to many wealthy people in the Bahamas with differing views you would see this. So his point is scaremongering and divisive at best, idiotic is probably a better way to describe it.
Y2- i think you need to come home and see for yourself what the Bahamas of today is all about instead of sitting behind the computer daddy bought you telling everyone how noble and forthright you and your PLP are. NOT!
Also why have you not answered the question, DID YOU VOTE? I think not and as such your ramblings mean nothing, you have no voice.

Because in like fashion, they did not have the time nor the energy, which is no excuse, to follow up with due dilligence.

For what ever reason, it is now evident that reverse racism was the plea, and the shuffler, if he did not throw the election on purpose, did not set proper PR in motion.

They underestimated the power of perception, and the short attention capacity of the electorate; and people in general. You were all too willing to eat the bad, instead of focusing on the issues. You were too willing to enjoy the un-substantial poump and pageantry, instead of asking yourselves WTF does any of that have to do with making sure I eat tommorrow.

Well, if they have any sense, they will not take anything for granted anymore. And if any PLP has a heart, and knows that they are the people's party, will not sit by while PM HI and the FNM half-wits screw you over, and give you a crap deal on the way forward. Christie may have had his short commings, but in no way can you see what PM HI has around the corner for the economic and psychological confidence in the Bahamian people....

We have to brace ourselves, as what you bought on the label, is not what it is inside the box.

IMO opinion they knew exactly what they were doing. It is not like they started this up after elections were called....they brought this up from one of thier "one night only" conventions they had back in 2006...you mean to tell me from then they could not explain..they could not follow up?...No...They knew what they meant..and stuck to it. They knew it would stir up fear, esspecially amonst the older voters for whatever reasons they had, and drove it home. They played on ignorance, and had people in a violent rage on this same issue, where did you think a good portion of this physical assault, property damage and theft from political rallies come from?

And to this day the only person in the who does not really think race is what the PLP meant in that campaing is Mr. Christie.

since you post your thoughts on race...on this site...in threads pertaining to race...i can only respond to what you say...
if what you say is not your real thoughts then i suggest you check a psychiatrist....
the truth is the economy is owned by a minority...and the liberated people you talk about...where are they?...i guess they liberated themselves into the fifth highest violent crime rate in the world...
and maybe you should ensure that the words you choose can convey what you mean....

whew. i was getting really confused, because i never saw fred's comments as racist, either, so much as a call to awareness that the country shouldn't go back to the old class wars! and many folks don't care for mr. symonette, black or white, given his selective memory as to what constitutes "his" bahamian culture. yes, the junkanoo comment set me right off!
