NAGB Talk: Carifesta X.

In 2008, The Bahamas will host Carifesta X.


CARIFESTA stands for the Caribbean Festival of Arts. CARIFESTA is the region’s roving, multidisciplinary, mega-arts festival which attracts a wide range of creative artists from various Caribbean and Latin American countries. Tens of thousands of persons from the Caribbean and the world will come to The Bahamas to experience the sights and sounds of the region's arts.


To date, nine CARIFESTAs were hosted by seven countries: Guyana (1972) Jamaica (1976), Cuba (1979), Barbados (1981), Trinidad and Tobago (1992 and 1995, 2006), St. Kitts and Nevis (2000) and Suriname (2003). 2008 will mark the first time CARIFESTA will be held in The Bahamas. This is a great honour and an awesome opportunity for all Bahamians.


This Tuesday, you are invited to attend a special discussion forum to bring all artists and interested parties up to speed on what CARIFESTA is, what is scheduled to happen, what can happen, and strategize so that all can capitalize on the opportunity and experiences this event will provide. Don’t miss the boat.


It is vitally important that ALL artists in all areas attend.
