View Full Version : Sedition ... and Fred Mitchell
Lurker 06-04-07, - 07:34 PM Man, I read the following, and I thought immediately of Fred Mitchell:
Sedition is a term of law which refers to covert conduct, such as speech and organization, that is deemed by the legal authority as tending toward insurrection against the established order. Sedition often includes subversion of a constitution and incitement of discontent (or resistance) to lawful authority. Sedition may include any commotion, though not aimed at direct and open violence against the laws. Seditious words in writing are seditious libel.
Put simply, sedition is the stirring up of rebellion against the government in power. Treason is the violation of allegiance to one's sovereign or state and has to do with giving aid to enemies or levying war. Sedition is more about encouraging the people to rebel, when treason is actually betraying the country.
Man, there is an awful lot of sedition coming out of the Fred Mitchell camp. Does any know sedition laws in the Bahamas?

LOL -- we weren't seditious. We never once said to overthrow the government, or resist every FNM motion like Fred promulgates.
We were against anchor projects, ruining the environment, putting all our eggs in one basket, incompetence, inertia and no policies.
We were for economic diversification, the "third pillar" as envisioned by Hubigetty, open currency and monetary policy and a freely exchangeable currency, CSME, a workable health care plan (not NHI where the PLP are planning to spend 3.6% per capita GDP while other countries spend 10% per capita GDP) .. and a pile of other stuff based on love and truth and goodness.
Ole Fweddie Phudpucker justs want to be seditious so dat he kin be da Minister of Foreign and DL Affairs.

*claps* Well said!
The sad thing is ya just can't talk to PLP's which is why I always refer to them having a bad mentality. They don't fully undersatnd what it means to be scandle ridden and failing in government. If they did, they would have not even called an election but just graceously resigned 2/3's of their seats.
To them, once they got power-all in the world is just merry and great. It's a crying shame!

After Lady StG. gets her funds, Sir Jack and Mr. Babek will be the GBPA. It ain't gonna dead, just more of a monopoly!
*on topic*
I think this all proves that Mr. Mitchell is interested in power, not leadership. He's builds his own political coffin every week in a podcast. Despite his desire to be mainstream, his rants only serve to marginalize him.
Even PLP supporters like Objective are less than complimentary of his actions - which I think is indeed objective! If Fred is more vocal than the leader it won't serve Fred or the PLP leader well.

And to think this guy wants to be next in line for leadership in the party. He is the type of "leader" that will destroy the PLP. That mightbe what we need, as painful as it is to say, but with the current guard in charge the PLP will have a tough time rising. And I dont think the current guard will allow the youth movement that so desperately needs to happen come to fruition.

"The reform effort had only limited success because there was a fight between the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service Department about who was to lead the effort. In the end finance won, and for reasons that mystify me, we have not gotten to where we should have gotten in that time," Mitchell told MPs yesterday in his contribution to the 2007/08 Budget Debate.
