justaguy 06-06-07, - 06:11 PM Just been wandering through the PLP site (and the FNM one - thought it was about time I actually checked them out!)
The "Have Your Say" section on the PLP site reads like hate-speech, and the grammar/spelling of the posts makes us look like a nation of ignorant illiterates.
I'm guessing from the fact that some of the posts have added text from a "PLP Admin" that the party can choose what does and doesn't get posted, which means the party is in full support of displaying this stuff to the world.
Is this really how the PLP party wants themselves portrayed to the world - condoning the rantings of fanatics?
Its very perturbing. And will only ever be damaging to the nation in the long run.
Techno-Bunny 06-06-07, - 06:23 PM Unfortunately, the same can be said of many posts/posters on this site too :(
justaguy 06-06-07, - 06:28 PM Yeah, but this site isn't the 'Official" online representation of the opposition party!
Imagine if the Democrats main website in the US, or the Conservative party site in the UK was filled with stuff like that - what would it say about that party?
Its horrific!

Yes, and imagine if their leaders had such horrid command of the spoken word and equally horrendous deportment as ours does. What would that say about those countries? It would be horrific too don't you think?

i wondered the same thing. what's the point in having an administator? and i disagree about this site being the same that is an unfair comparison.

We all know you are proud to portrayed in this manner - it is clear in every post you make, but do you really think it is good for the country that the PLP actively promotes this type of hatred and ignorance?
This isn't about me reading it. This isn't about me liking it - this is about the entire world seeing this stuff and judging the entire country upon it.
Surely even you can see how devastating this could be? Or maybe you have no understanding of how the perception of us from outside of The Bahamas affects every single aspect of your life.

have you listened to how disgraceful they are carrying on in the house? what more do you expect of them? the speaker of the house just had to call order on them just now on t v. as the leaders carry on so shall the supporters
gullyrock 06-06-07, - 10:37 PM I visited the PLP site to look at the pictures during the "rallys". I still take a look at times...They had more pictures AFTER the election than during the rallys. And tonight I wanted to lookup some info on one of their MP"s...Guess what, they are still showing all the MP's from before the election..as if they are still the government!!! They got time to put all those "insignificant" photos on there, but no time to update the more important things....Sad case of DENIAL!! Poor chirren, I know they disappointed, but come now its been a month since the election. Time to suck it up and move on!

Like I said in my original post, I visited both sites.
At no time on the FNM website did they advocate hatred for any fellow Bahamian. Nor did they attempt to portray the people of the Bahamas (i.e. YOU and me) as ignorant or illiterate.
Now, as you claim 'my side' is doing this BIG TIME (emphasis yours), can you direct me to globally viewable instances where the FNM encourage hatred of fellow countrymen and attempt to protray the people of this nation as undereducated animals.
If you cannot, please do not bother responding at all, as without providing evidence to back up your claim, any further comment from you is pointless.
Oh, and please don't refer to me as brother - it is insulting to my family.
So do you agree with the us running our country & a dictator?
Of course not, but as that hasn't occurred it seems to be a somewhat bizarre question.

Give an example of the "hate speech", which you saw at the myplp site?
As for an example of hatred being shown by FNMs towards PLPs, it was clearly seen when Senator Pleasant Bridgewater, was surrounded at a live show of realtalk with Jeffery Lloyd, shot on location in Freeport, in front of an FNM supporters place of business. Also in attendance was the co-guest, the Rev. Senator Fredrick Macilpine, who had just finished a very salty “anti-gay” rant on PLPs. One who knows the Rev, can only imagine that he can only know these things first hand about homosexuality. Senator Bridgewater was surrounded by FNMs, who were basically intimidating the poor woman from speaking.
Another example, was when Rev. Senator Macilpine, told PLP supporters to "quit the election courts process, if they know what's best for them.” This threat went "unchecked" by many FNMs, and in fact it was a blatant threat.
Another example of threats and them going un-checked by leading FNMs, happened when Senator Johnley Fergusson, the deputy Chairman of the FNM, was on realtalk with Mr. Lloyd when two listeners faxed in comments, to the effect of basically; "the PLP know better than to push for an early election, and they would stop if they know what's best for them.” Mr. Fergusson sat there, and did not even give as much as an acknowledgement to the writers tone and seemingly threat letter, not even to say that we have no place for such threatening language. A week later, the PLP headquarters caught a fire.
Coincidence?
I have been reading this site, and listening to the threats made by FNM fundamentalists here and on air and in the open. The threats have shown to be nothing short of intense, and conveys a sentiment of a blood-thirsty nature towards their own brothers and sisters, who in reality, only have differences in blood and politics. This behaviour got worse AFTER they have won the election. Case in point, on realtalk, Mr. Lloyd made mention to a newly appointed Cabinet Minister, who was greeted at his new ministry by an FNM supporter, with a list of PLPs who needed to be "dealt with".
So, in my mind, the facts presented are self evident. The FNM has done nothing, absolutely nothing, to call off their FNM attack dogs and their fundamentalist fanatics, not even at the very least. But, what do we expect, when the first order of the day by the FNM Prime Minister, was to silence a reporter who may have been-apparently-a horse of a different political colour.
I think we see now, and I think people are outraged at the thought of anything different. We see.
p.s.
I am not sure where this bash on PLP education is coming from, but from reading this site, which has just as much FNMs and PLPs, the writing's are atrocious ALL AROUND. This site gets more hits than any other Bahamian site, and it is show world-wide; as well as being on the google search engine's top list. I know many of us write from our heart, and we do not use the spell-check, which is no excuse, but it is something we should be careful of all around and not just to pick on PLPs; something which seems to be a habit that FNMs are very keen at. My brother.

You actually want the whole myplp have your say section copied and pasted here? I don't even go to that section anymore. It reminds me of Fred Mitchell's disgraceful website. I detect a trend.

First of all, Ms. Bridgewater knew where the show was being staged. If she didn't like the venue then she should have declined to attend. So what if there were FNM's there? No one threatened or confronted her, I can't see what she had to fear. Her paranoia was unjustified. There are FNM's all over Grand Bahama. If she feels that way then maybe she should leave the island.
Intimidating the poor woman? Ms. Bridgewater is a POLITICIAN! If she can't face people who have opposing views then she needs to leave front-line politics to people who have the tenacity to handle it.

Meaning that if another election is called, they would not only lose again, but they would only win a few seats, less thatn what they have now. How you get all the way to fire? Seems like paranoia runs in the party!
Coincidence?

You're a liar at best. Not a very good showing for a first time poster on this forum.
This behaviour got worse AFTER they have won the election. Case in point, on realtalk, Mr. Lloyd made mention to a newly appointed Cabinet Minister, who was greeted at his new ministry by an FNM supporter, with a list of PLPs who needed to be "dealt with".
Only a simple-minded person would take an incident involving one person and apply it to the entire party. This type of behaviour has always been, and will always be condemned by the FNM. If you want real examples where it was actually carried out, check your PLP history.
So, in my mind, the facts presented are self evident. The FNM has done nothing, absolutely nothing, to call off their FNM attack dogs and their fundamentalist fanatics, not even at the very least. "In your mind" is correct. A very very dark place apparently.

If you come on this board making an arse of yourself you will be dealt with, PLP or FNM. This whole run on post about the FNM bashing, abusing, intimidating PLP's is a load of trash. Take the time to advise the people in your party. Let them know that if they don't change the way they're dealing with defeat, they will be defeated again and again. No one likes a sore loser.
Keep it up though, the BDM I think are really loving the course you're on. Makes the future look even brighter for them.
