View Full Version : How to have fun on a Sunday morning.
chancellor 04-27-06, - 05:28 PM Don't you hate it when Christmas time they try to come around! Damn man!
I sometimes just dont answer. Geez you know their cars when they are comming! Some of the people in the neighbourhood conveniently decide to go out, the rest never answer. And worse if they catch you out in the front yard trying to do work! Trying to act as if you are almost done and slip to the back! I mean the neighbourhood become so quite! It's like the calm before war!
However if we do get caugth it ususally ends up being someone we or some family knew a long time ago and it ends up being a conversation catching up on old time or such, leaving the book afterward that no one reads.

It think it was the late British comedian and writer Robert Morley that had a stock answer for those door to door missionaries.
Shaking them very warmly by the hand he then said. “Sorry, we are all pagans here, nice people but pagans. You must excuse me now as I have to sacrifice a chicken in the back yard.” :bouncy:
i-omega 04-27-06, - 06:41 PM I had yet another unpleasent experience with a Jehova's Witness this morning. The worst part was, I was too tired to play any games with them.
Everyone here should be sure to print out this post, and hang it in the wall beside your door. Be prepared.
How To Get Rid of Jehovah's Witnesses
1. Answer the door naked and carrying weaponry (immediate results).
2. Pretend to be the slowest talking person in the world and see how long their spirit of charity lasts.
3. Answer every one of their questions with: "What do you mean by that?" This might take a while, but you and your loved ones can have fun placing bets on how long it takes for them to get flustered and leave.
4. Ask them to reconcile Revelation 1 and 22 for the "Alpha & Omega's" identity (Jesus or God), repeat constantly. You may have to resort to another method to actually get rid of them, but this will definitely make them sweat.
5. Excuse yourself from your living room (or wherever)... and don't come back.
6. Make a series of increasingly reprehensible fake phone calls (bookie, drug deal, obscene call, and if they are STILL there, a tearful confession to the police for the murder of the last Witnesses who visited you.)
7. Pick an oft-repeated word in their lexicon (God, Jesus, heaven, it, the, etc.) and giggle whenever they utter it. If they ask you what's going on, say "Nothing, why?" in very even tones, and giggle again.
8. Same as #7, except say "beep" instead of giggling.
9. (Males only) Feign an intense interest in their spiel. Part way through, begin putting on make-up, hosiery, a dress, the whole nine yards. Make encouraging noises (uh-huh, I see...) throughout, and if they ask you what you're doing, pull a # 7. If they're still there when you are done, Ask them if they would please kindly leave as you have a hot date in ten minutes.
10. Look smug and tell them that your God can beat up their God.
when religeous people show-up at my door irrespective of sect i'm glad,i don't have 2 play games or tricks,4 me it's an opportunity 2 learn as well as 2 share, most of them are good people and good listeners cause i'm usually doin the talkin and askin the questions, most times they never come-back 2 finnish the study and it's disheartenin cause i thought we were gettin somewhere,i donate 2 their cause and select a few publications cause i learned something and gave-back in return, but that's just me,i could follow any old sailors tales(play hide and seek) if i wish but i wouldn't be representin me,so i stay true 2 yours truly, that dosen't make me passive, weak, easy or naive,pullin-out all the stops and gettin 2 the point as it relates 2 other people make ya REAL. Real men will tell ya str8-up and down NO if it's applicable tactfully
Blade 05-02-06, - 02:11 PM You know its actually very odd to hear this group talking about Witnesses the way they are in here.
The thing about it, is while you think you are doing yourself a favor by successfully turning away Witnesses, what are you really doing? You are simply making a point that people today refuse to listen to reason.
Yes, you come across a witness or two who have not yet been able to take in enough knowledge to have a complete conversation about other religions. But then again, there are some 5 year old Witnesses i know who could tell you more about your religions books than most adults ever could. It also depends on where you are.
Many witnesses even take the time out of their lives to learn languages of the people in their area, so they can speak to them and share encouraging thoughts with them.
Witnesses do not wish to convert persons, just reason with them on false teachings and ideas that have been engrained in people since the beginning.
Jesus instructs them to do the preaching work as he did his disciples, they carry it out without question once they have asked the right questions and received their answers.
Most people think witnesses are blind followers of an evil sect, but do you realise that they arent teaching things that they came up with. These are things the Bible teaches. Unfortunately, like Jesus explained, many religions have made the "word of God invalid by teachings of men, and traditions"
Consider the man that was met while going door to door, yes, on a Sunday, he had been reading his Bible for the past few months and had come to realise that all his pastor had taught him all his life just wasnt making sense, the immortal soul, the fiery hellfire, the going to heaven. He was disheartened and discouraged becuase he had been told lies. Witnesses came to his door and shared with him from the Bible, the subject of "What Really is Hell?" which explains the Bible view of what Hell, Hades, and She'ol are. He was able to start a study and had already realised most of the information that was being taught to him, but was it a Witness who converted him. NO. It was his own common sense and interest in the Bible.
Do you wonder why their are so many religions, and yet only one Bible?
Do you not wonder why other religions fight and kill their own and others, and Witnesses dont even get involved in such things.
Do you wonder why Witnesses are always out in the ministry, despite people always turning them away.
Check your Bible, youll see why.
So, the next time a Witness comes to the door, yes, you may be wiser in words than they are in some cases, you may even be well-versed in the Scriptures. But consider this, they have come to see you, because they love their neighbor. As their neighbor, do you care to listen? Perhaps you could try next time.

I'm so serious man!

You see it as reason. Others see it as disturbing their peace on a Sunday morning! It is all relative.

That could be true for some places, but not here - in my experience.
Witnesses do not wish to convert persons, just reason with them on false teachings and ideas that have been engrained in people since the beginning.
One mans false teaching is another man’s truth. One man’s truth is another man’s false teachings.
Jesus instructs them to do the preaching work as he did his disciples, they carry it out without question once they have asked the right questions and received their answers.

Actually, they, like other religions teach their interpretation of things the Bible teaches.
Consider the man that was met while going door to door, yes, on a Sunday, he had been reading his Bible for the past few months and had come to realise that all his pastor had taught him all his life just wasnt making sense, the immortal soul, the fiery hellfire, the going to heaven. It was his own common sense and interest in the Bible.
So, the billions that believe in another interpretation of the Bible, an interpretation that serves them well do not use common sense?
Do you wonder why their are so many religions, and yet only one Bible?
Actually, there are two Bibles. But your question puzzles me! Each religion has its own Holy Books or are saying that each division in Christianity (denomination) is its own religion?
Do you not wonder why other religions fight and kill their own and others, and Witnesses dont even get involved in such things.
The Bible also tells us that there is a time under the Sun for all things - even a time to kill! Witnesses don’t fight for freedom. They leave it to others then bask in that freedom. On the other hand, if ones heart tells him not to fight then fight he must not. But don’t take credit for the victory.
Do you wonder why Witnesses are always out in the ministry, despite people always turning them away. Check your Bible, youll see why.
Because they have to. It is part of their religious beliefs.
So, the next time a Witness comes to the door, yes, you may be wiser in words than they are in some cases, you may even be well-versed in the Scriptures. But consider this, they have come to see you, because they love their neighbor. As their neighbor, do you care to listen? Perhaps you could try next time.
I have listened to them, and they to me. I have no problem with them. I am always honored when someone shares their faith with me - as long as they don’t put their above, and better than my own. I see them as on equal footing.
PS You are new here. I am Buddhist. :)
diarra 05-02-06, - 05:18 PM Personally I ein got nothing against them or their religious doctrine but what is puzzle me is this:
1) The same one's come around to my apartment every week for the past couple years or so. Why every week I still have to say no I am not interested though. I mean I like , Damn! If i been saying no dis long what make u believe sumtin change now. I mean if I was one of them I would at least realise which houses on my delivery route ain't interested and just bypass those.
2) Since i duck them for a while they started leaveing their phone number on some cards and just says to call at a time convenient to me to counsel. The number have their home number, cell number; I mean enough info for me to find them. All I can say is they have some trust beyond my comprehension cause buddy, where i was in NY I barely wanted to leave my mail in my mailbox much less my numbers stuck in someone door. And besides if I don't require counselling in person. what make u think I ga call u to do it by phone.
All I can say is more power to them nah!! Lol !!!!!!
