Glenn Ferguson 06-12-07, - 04:30 PM How would they know if you buy stock in ADT or another company? It's not like the government has the ability to track money. honestly this is the first I heard of this one. There are loopholes and the country is a funnel even with exchange control because as you know, there is very little enforcement of our laws... If they can't track whether you buy stock in ADT, AT&T or WB - then how do they know who to write a dividend check to?? Sunnyjohn 06-12-07, - 05:31 PM Companies pay dividends. No, I mean how would the Bahamas government know if you bought stock or invested overseas? [sarcasm on] I mean it's not like we have a modern system of taxation or fiduciary system that would track Bahamian dollars overseas [/sarcasm off] This is the first I've heard of this law. Man yinna tink dey ga let me run da' tuck shop in jail? gian_18778 06-12-07, - 08:28 PM It may surprise but the first thing you need to do is forget about saving for the future. You should instead be focus on "creating wealth." This is simply using your time and money to replace the need to continually have to work for a paycheck. That's the lottery ticket right there. I feel that every working Bahamian should have this as their goal, as it provides one of the sure ways to enable us to have economic empowerment we deserve. Glenn Ferguson 06-13-07, - 02:02 AM Have you sold any or received a dividend check?? If so, then we should stop this convo. Still wont be an issue as lots of Bahamians have U.S. addresses... Ting-um 06-13-07, - 07:06 AM An issue with whom?? The Bahamian government or the american government?? Don't you think if things were that easy, thousands of drug dealers would be able to wash their money with no problem. The fact is that if you put money in a bank account, it is being followed. That is unless you take it out as cash. I'm sure a lot of brokers will be extremely happy when they see you pull up with a suitcase filled with cash. chancellor 06-13-07, - 07:43 AM Well in the mean time....what are the best stock here? I see FOCOL is splitting 3 for 1 to cut the price of stocks...sounds like a good time to get in there. If Commonwealth does the same thing it would be great too. I always trust Real estate...how about Premier Real Estate? Always a steady stock. Glenn Ferguson 06-13-07, - 07:00 PM Well in the mean time....what are the best stock here?
