If bahamians can do it, why can't everyone else?? The issue isn't about buying stock. It doesn't become an issue until the stock is sold or dividend is distributed. Are you saying that there is no consequence to selling stock or accepting dividends - or that bahamians haven't been caught yet??
That sounds like people who avoid paying taxes for ten years and assert that there is no consequence. That is until the IRS rolls up and hits them with 30 years in prison for tax evasion. Ron Isley was allowed to get away with it for 15 years - now he's in jail. Personally, I would not advise Bahamians to follow this course of action.

If you were following the thread you'd see that the question asked clearly indicated that the answer looking for was percentage(%) of pay and not actual dollar figures...
I save at least 20% of gross pay...

Never forget that you and your family are the only ones affected by your finances so there will be obstacles but you should never stop pushing...
See the manager and keep seeing people at the next level of bank until you get what you want, the squeaky door gets the oil

I must say, I really like this thread! Financial investment has been close to my heart since 1998.
Here is a snapshot of some my stake:
1. Simple IRA and personal 401(K). I max out contributions each year and have since 2000.
2. Two condos I paid $40K each for (no down payment) in mid 2001. One is paid off. The other I pay $320 a month mortgage for. They rent for $600 each month.
3. $30-$50K in stock and index funds. (I LOVE YOU APPLE!)
4. $8K emergency fund in an account earning 5.15% interest. I need this so I can sleep good at night.
I'll stop there. The "tuck shop" has be very good to me! LOL! :p

Where did you purchase a condo for 40k?
