Gnostic Scriptures of Thomas:

22 Jesus saw some babies nursing. He said to his disciples, "These nursing babies are like those who enter the kingdom."
They said to him, "Then shall we enter the kingdom as babies?"
Jesus said to them, "When you make the two into one, and when you make the inner like the outer and the outer like the inner, and the upper like the lower, and when you make male and female into a single one, so that the male will not be male nor the female be female, when you make eyes in place of an eye, a hand in place of a hand, a foot in place of a foot, an image in place of an image, then you will enter [the kingdom]."

Also

Matthew 19
12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

Seems Christ opposes you on that.

Just a lesion I learned last night about interpretations from a very good teacher.

John bought a time peace then he is never seen from again.
What did Joe buy?
A. A pocket watch
B. A wrist watch
C. A stop watch
D. Night stand clock
E. A wall clock
F. A grandfather clock

Now when your interpretation denies people the right to life dignity, love and happiness can it be right????

Sharing one faith is a beautiful thing. I love to learn of other cultures and faith love to learn of the diversity of human beings. One thing I have noticed in this learning is that just as you see other people’s faith as foolish they look at yours the same way. One man once said who would worship an executed criminal (referring to Christianity). They are just as stead fast in their faith as you are in yours. However there is 1 common thing even to the Atheist we are all human.

When someone uses their religion to make laws and social structure that denies a human their human rights it is wrong. The faith is not wrong just the imposing of ideals on someone that does not follow that faith.

this is a nice peom. i really like it. but i think it would also make a great anti-gay chant also. (not saying this in a sarcastic way, just sayin whats on my mind). to me the line in red seems to suggests that those who are attracted to the same sex wantingly, knowingly, and defiantly oppose heterosexuality. it seems to suggest that these people for no reason want to go against what is natural. is this what this line is suppose to mean?

For heaven's sake, people, let's try to move on already!!! Debates are a wonderful thing: they provoke thought, they get points across, and they are instrumental in finding a solution. However, after a certain point of no resolution being found, one has to admit that certain topics end up sort of 'null'.

On the topic of homosexuality/transgendered folks (especially in this forum), it has become painfully obvious that there will not be a "happy medium" in the near future. We have seen, through the various threads, the same posters saying 'A', and the other camp saying 'B'. Who is right? Well, that's all a matter of opinion; unfortunately, there's not enough concrete evidence to support either argument, so what are we going to do? Keep bickering about who's correct and who's more correct? So can we all just let it go? I'm not trying to sound rude, or disrespectful of others' opinions. But at this point, the subject keeps coming up, and with fruitless results. It seems to me that arguing for or against it is really just a waste of time.

For what it's worth: My take on it is that we are all people, subject to the laws of the land. As long as we respect those laws, and the people who abide by them, we can at least say we've taken that first step to a healthier, happier society. Let's focus on that, shall we? And on that note, HAPPY FRIDAY! :friday:

True, George, no one will change minds but we can give each other bits of information that we might not otherwise have. We also have a chance to "talk," frankly, to each other and ask questions.

Hopefully, when we hear the other persons point of view we can learn to "live-and-let-live."

That would be ideal, CG. Unfortunately, from what I've read in previous posts, nothing new is coming forth with respect to this particular topic. It's usually the same quotes from the Bible to back up one theory (in addition to the same ho-hum "man belongs with woman" routine), and the same (or similar) link to a psychologist's or doctor's findings to support another theory. I'd love for everyone to adopt the "live-and-let-live" concept, but with so many emotions at stake, it almost seems like a lost cause.

That is because we cling to our beliefs, even if the facts don't support our position or our facts are out of date - or if we don't even understand our beliefs.

The struggle for understanding is a slow, tedious process. Perhaps, what has been written, is boring to some but there are others who are seeing it with fresh eyes. Both sides of the issue have something to offer - we have to have the wisdom to see things as they see them. Only then can we, live-and-let-live.

The Bible tells us that there is nothing new under the sun. This is true in the broad sense but they are new to us the first time we see them!

i think it is good to keep these discusions open becuase, it allows others to see both sides of a issue and maybe they will begin to think differently or begin to think about a issues they never really given thought to.
